Selfdestruct battles.
« on: February 07, 2011, 01:59:49 PM »
I hate the move selfdestruct because.. well, simple logic is simple. The foe pokemon blows up, killing itself first, then your pokemon. It faints first ._____. Seriously, it's like ragequitting on a part of the battle. I don't think it should be in PU, discuss here.
(I'm no expert at this type of move, so I don't know the cons and pro's when you use it.)

If your pokemon won't survive another hit and it's faster than your opponent's pokemon, you could use selfdestruct to deal a lot of damage, and it doesn't really matter that your pokemon faints from selfdestruct if it was going to faint anyway.

Explosion, the more common move, is an effective part of some peoples strategies and should be kept. I see no reason why it's any different from a move like bullet punch or such. Also it's not a guaranteed kill against the opponents pokemon so your overreacting a bit.

I fed my Graveler dynamite pre-battle.

Gravler used Explosion!

My shuckle soaks it like a champ. :) I seriously remember
him losing about 8% once when my friend  first fought me and
was silly enough to let my shuckle set up with acupressure.
