Calx pouts.
"No fun..."
Noticing the same light as Stefan
"or out o' doors he went without their helps,
And, to the last, bended their light on me."
The thrill in playing a game does not come from our chances of winning. It is the weight and pressure of losing that fuels our fascination. It is why people challenge, why they gamble and why they compete. The adrenaline that comes from defying defeat is what motivates us.

Stefan removed his revolver from its holster, pointing it at his forehead and pulling the trigger six times, then unloaded it, revealing six unused shells.
"So don't get your hopes up, don't aim too high, they may say they love you, but most of them lie."

Calx reaches the end of the fog, stops and turns around. The thing was standing right there, a few feet from him.
" Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your songs?
your flashes of merriment, that were wont to set the table
on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own grinning?
 quite chap-fallen?"

Stefan froze in mid-step when he heard Calx's obscure poetry. Turning around on his heel, he saw what had caused the sniper to be slightly more odd than usual.
IT was still behind them.
"Why, hello there, good sir. I'm sure you're very busy, what with the kidnapping children and impaling them on trees after removing all the organs from their body, so we won't be taking up any more of your time, bye!"
Stefan grabbed Astrid, rushing off again.

Stefan noticed rather quickly that there were only two sets of footfalls. As they came to a stop, Astrid turned around, pointing in the creature's direction.
"Stefan, Calx is killing himself with crazy again. Please stop him."
Stefan turned around as well. Calx was staring at the tall figure like a boy would stare at a puppy in the window.
"...Eh. Nex can probably take care of him."

With her freehand, Nex touches Calx's shoulder.
Come back, we need to go
He blinks, and looks at her.
"What were we doing again?"
Running from what we saw at the cabin a few years ago
"Great. That's always fun."
Turning aorund, Calx begins to run after Stefan again.

When Nex and Calx had caught up, Stefan continued moving onward, allowing Astrid to operate freely this time. Her wrist was probably sore by now.
"So, ladies and Calx, what's the plan? Find the most populated part of the city up ahead and see if it makes that child-eating man behind us give up?"

"It doesn't like to leave the forest much. I doubt it would go that far."
This is the first time we've seen it leave the forest at all.

Stefan threw his arms in the air.
"Oh, that's fantastic! He doesn't leave the forest until I come around! You know what that means? The Slender Man likes me! I'm a Slender magnet!"
"W.... What's The.... Slender Man?
Astrid was running on fumes now. Maybe another hundred steps were left in her legs.

The four approached the border of the city. All of them panting from being chased out of the Slender Man's territory.
Calx and Nex stop to catch their breath, Calx's rifle dropping to the ground.
"Well that was fun! Any other games you want to play before its time for bed?"

Stefan glared at Calx. The immediate danger gone, he remembered the mass death that had taken place earlier.
"Calx, I swear to god, if you hadn't lost a few quarts of blood earlier, and if you weren't a frail sniper that I doubt could handle it, I would bash your skull in right now."

"That was great song." He says, looking up at the rooftops of the skyscrapers.

Two shadows stood guard over the vehicle compound. He crept up behind one, indicating for his second in command to follow suit. He unsheathed his knife from his left thigh and plunged it into the man's jugular, twisting the blade he ripped it out, the blood bubbling out as his last breath was released from his lungs.
He wiped the dagger on the dead man's jacket, and observed that the other guard lay dead too. Quickly, for fear of waking anyone, the men piled into the two trucks.

Kain was silently moving to his car. Then he heard a noise. He turned around, and saw the creature standing four yards away. It just stood there. Then it tilted it's head at him. Kain fired three shots at it. None of them hit it. It started slowly walking towards him in a creepy manner. Kain started ran as fast as he could. When he got to his car he jumped in and drove away as fast as he could.
"Why are you driving so fast?"
Kain didn't answer. He looked in the rearview mirror, and saw the thing standing there. It tilted it's head, and then walked away. Kain drove into the city, and stopped the car.
I hope I never have to go in there again.
