Day/night and seasons
« on: March 28, 2011, 10:33:56 PM »
I think it would be cool with a day night feature and a season feature, but day and night would change every 2-4 hours and the seasons with the months  ;D

Interesting. I'm not much for anything being thrown in before the open beta on friday, but this might be cool.
I, however, would rather it change based on the time at the Server's location.

At some point we will implement Morning/day/night stretching over 2 hours each. Thus each period will be available 4 times a day. (maybe we'll decrease it to 3 times a day)

This is mainly due to real life timezones and server positions.

If we feel like it, we'll implement seasons aswell.

Different seasons could be interesting. I'm for it. Of course different pokemon should be more or less common in different seasons. Fire and bug pokemon would be rare in winter, while water and ice types would be rare in summer.

Actually, I'd think water types would flourish in the summer. Because that's when everyone goes to the beach.

Agree.. haha.. Although... I believe rarity of a certain pokemon would be my opinion. =/

This is an interesting concept, which could have interesting results. One thing to consider is that different pokemon would be more likely to come out at different times, (night/day) but the seasons idea takes it a step further... The only issue I see is people getting annoyed that say they joined just after the summer season ended and now they will have to wait to get the pokemon they wanted.

Perhaps make seasons last a month each? Then the 4 seasons would cycle 3 times a year.

An example could be.

January - Summer
February - Fall
March - Winter
April - Spring
May - Summer
June - Fall
July - Winter
August - Spring
October - Summer
November - Fall
December - Winter

Hey that would work nicely as winter holidays would be during the winter season so if they wanted they could do winter themed holiday quests!

Yeah, most likely the seasons wouldn't run real time. Neither will day/night.

what yall should do is make the seasons and day and night so that when it is night the dark/ghost pokemon come out. and for the seasons i think you guys should give every week another season so that every week like, week33 and that week is winter wich makes ice pokemon appear more often

What is the point in night/day and seasons if we don't do as you just so cleverly thought of, if I might ask?
