The BIG transportation topic (bikes, skateboards, etc..)

Why use only bikes?

It'd be a cool feature if we could use:

-Skateboards
-Scooters
-Skates

A mess of players  riding around on bikes is no fun at all, so why not mix things up with some other means of ground transportation? It'll also add another nice layer of customization to the game.

I'm pretty sure there was a topic about this on the old website... Anyway, I think the conclusion was that there probably would be more than one method of transport.
To be perfectly honest, after getting the HM fly (Hopefully this will work like in the GBA/DS games) I only use a bike to get to new towns.

Ugh, so annoying. I wasn't very active on the old site so my knowledge of what topics were on it are shoddy. 

I know there'll be different types of bikes, but using a skateboard would be awesome.

I'll look into this when I'm going to implement transportation. I can assure you there will be other kinds of transportation than bikes.

That will take a lot of sprites to realise, so I'm almost sure this ain't gonna happen

Maybe it's an idea to put a cooldown system on the HM Fly? In other MMORPG's you can go from point A to B by;
1) Walk/Fly (just like walking, but in air)/Drive
2) Teleport portal (cost money)
3) Teleport item

If people have the ability to FLY with their Pokemon (like the GB games), it will ruin some of the balance between fast an slow transport..
~ Flying almost everywhere..

Also, I think it should be not possible to fly to another island (to far away).. Instead you will  have to take a ship or air plane

Not really, just make like 2 or 3 Pokemon to be ride able, like not all 293, or maybe use the legendaries in this way since they wont battle.

Hm, 'not really' eh? Well, who's to say which Pokemon'll be...ride-afied? I'm not even going to go into the implications of having ride...able legendaries. Just no, I do remember this being discussed somewhere before, and the answer I believe was: No.

I think they should all be at the same speed. This should be a preference. Some people might like skateboard more than bike or vice versa. Maybe only have shoes with the least speed.

The higher your player level is the more stamina you get so you can use your transportation longer.

No, every transportation vehicle will have it's own speed.

If the PU team can implement some sort of mass transit system, I think it'd be cool if there was some sort of railway/subway/trolley system in game.

No, every transportation vehicle will have it's own speed.

Hm, then maybe with their own speeds, comes different stamina limits. Err--like the bike can go faster, but it takes stamina away faster. The running shoes are the slowest, but they last longer.
Of course that really wouldn't make sense in real life.
