Example SetGuts @ Flame Orb
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Guts, Jolly
- Facade
- Sucker Punch
- U-Turn
- Brick Break / Reversal
Explanation of SetRaticate is awesome. This set is full of pain, and can sweep up extremely well after your team fills the enemy team with holes and status problems. Facade is your bread and butter - coming from a burnt Raticate it is amazing - so amazing, in fact, coverage moves are nearly useless, as they are only useful if Facade is resisted, AND they are super-effective. Sucker Punch is what separates Raticate from other Guts users, it can use its priority to effectively ensure damage - and it especially helps with Ghosts.
U-Turn is great for leaving an enemy Pokemon with a hefty parting gift, while Brick Break is good against the types that resist Normal, such as Steel and Rock. When Raticate drop to below a third of his health, Reversal starts being more effective than Brick Break.
Example SetHustle @ Life Orb
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Hustle, Jolly
- Hone Claws
- Sucker Punch
- Brick Break
- Return
Explanation of SetThis set is similar to the one before, but, you don't have an expiry date. You can use any item again, too! But, you lose the amazing Facade, and you get a big old accuracy drop. Accuracy drop is fixed by Raticate's new addition Hone Claws - and you're lovely from there. Again, it is recommended that your enemies are weakened before this Rat is brought out - you must also try to get the Hone Claws up - and that will likely require taking a hit.
