Emphasizing more on what player's want to become
« on: February 04, 2010, 11:40:20 PM »
I think that the user's of this game should be able to have emphasis on what they want to become.I think that it will make the game stand out more than any other mmorpg not just a pokemon game.
What I mean is less emphasis on becoming a pokemon master and more on what the user wants, such as being a Pokemon Trainer,Breeder,Coordinator,Item creator/seller,among other possiblilities. Maybe even opening your own gym?

Well, it's been expressed several times that players will not become gym leaders.

Otherwise, I believe you're referring to professions. I think, if implemented correctly, that could work well.

It could definitely give the trainers something more than just grinding. However, almost all MMORPGs have professions, so it wouldn't be innovative or new.

It is a good idea though

I think he ment as in Pokemon MMORPGs. I like this idea because it would allow you to do other things besides grinding.

Yes we plan to introduce such system where you can get experience in certain special "roles" (otherwise we'd have to name our game Pokemon Universe MMO ;))

We don't have much concrete information about these roles but I do know you won't be able to become a gym leader (this has been discussed a number of times already, it's not going to happen. period.).

Luckily we get quests, and tournaments too to gain some experience too :D
Grinding definitely makes a game really boring.

So to clarify, is it going to be like a system where you get to spend your points and/or trainer level ups on certain specialized areas allowing everone to be precisely what the want? That sounds awesome  :P although I assume the team has an epic plan for how to do it , I'll just sit here dreaming  :D

You don't spend points, your "stats" will be automatically updated when you are doing certain stuff. I can't make it more concrete than this because we still figuring it out.
