Yes, it's fur hangs over it's eyes blocking its vision, and even with the hair gone, the saber dog is nearly blind. But that makes him have a very high sense of hearing and smell.

if you must know why one hound knows, but not the others. The hound on Hamon's carriage is made for tracking, the others are for fighting, which is why the tracker can pinpoint a smell, and the fighters just avoid any contact once they smell a necromancer not associated with Hamon.
