Technical Machine (TM) Idea

(1/5) > >>

NaviGator:
Learning moves for pokemon is always done by leveling or giving your pokemon a tm or hm or meeting a special character. How about making powerful TM's a difficult task to obtain. For example take an actual machine instead of an item and a place where you have to travel through a high level area for some time to get to it. Once you get to the TM to use it you would have to pay a large sum of money to leave a pokemon in the machine to learn the move. You have to wait 12 hours before returning and you can only have one pokemon in anyone of these machines at one time. Nothing else besides learning the move happens to the pokemon left there unless of course you wait for an extended amount of time to retrieve the pokemon in which case is may not be as fond of you. There should not be any pokecenters within close proximity to these machines so you would have to have the pokemon with you and it would have to survive all the way to the machine.

Bader Alhajeri:
not bad

but I think we must focus on the game itself
not TM or HM

but your idea is good

SnowWolfAlpha:
That idea would be good for HM's because they are called 'Hidden Machines'.

TM's I think should stay the same, quest rewards and possibly buying them.

All though the powerful ones like ice beam and flamethrower, maybe. However I like the idea of hiding people who can teach pokemon these moves.

Of course if it were up to me, you would just get instructions on how to teach a move instead of a TM, like meeting certain conditions e.g. (training in certain weather).

Nintendo have come up with different ways of pokemon evoling, why can't they come up with different ways of them learning attacks other than TM/ HM or leveling. I suppose there is breeding too.

Jerry:
Oh they have introduced some. Since the RSE series, there has been a move tutor, well, better described as move relearner and some move tutors around (to teach Rollout in Mauvile, Dynamic Punch in Mossdeep, etc). Then in the FR/LG series, you have move tutor spread around the areas (Dream Eater in Viridian, Mega Kick/Punch on Rt 104, the ultimate moves for starter pokemons in their last evolution form, that is Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn and Hydro Canon on Island 2, etc)

stephenkill2:
Yes, I doubt there will be random TM's lying around in this game  :P I assume TM's and HM's will be various rewards from completing quests, tournaments, and other varieties of events accordingly , which means you are already questing to get them  8)
