In-game economy
« on: December 13, 2013, 06:02:28 PM »
This reminds of a game we all love, Skyrim. It would be based on the law of supply and demand (i.e. poke balls are in high demand, so the price goes up. When the demand dies down, the supply will rise again and prices will drop).

The actions of players can also effect this economy (i.e. a player does a gathering quest for an NPC merchant. When said player buys from aforementioned merchant, he/she gains a discount.)

This can be expanded upon and I would really love some input on this idea and see it brought to fruition.

P.S.- I searched the forums for this topic and nothing was found.

We kind of had a discusssion on this, but it was more on what the money will be called. I'm unsure what to say about this, because it dos seem like a good idea, but the application would be bigger than we may think. This literally affect all the players. I'm cool with the discount option though, but as a quest writer, I think I would try to make getting that very challenging so it feels like you really earned it.

To implement this game-wide would be a bit of a problem. But it would be a good way for players to make a profit without battling 24/7. If a player can get a high amount of an in-demand product, they can sell that product for a higher price than the NPCs and make a living.

Giving players discounts as rewards can work in conjunction with the supply-demand concept. Players that have earned this discount could buy in-demand products and resell them for profit.

The money will be called Goldz or something. And TerryE, players can just do that on their own. We do have an item selling feature planned.
