[Pokedex Entry] Misdreavus
(1/1)
fuzzy3158:
Pokemon #200, Misdreavus, Ghost type, Screech pokemon.
Intro: A mischievous pokemon that loves to scare people. Misdreavus appears as a severed head with a blue/greenish ‘body’ and purple highlights at the end of its waving ‘hair’. It has a necklace of purple gems, yellow sclera and red irises.
Habitat: Misdreavus is found inhabiting deep, dark caves and dark forests. It may take shelter in old abandoned houses.
Diet: Misdreavus consumes fear as a source of vital energy. This is the main reason it loves to startle and scare people and pokemon. It can also consume pokemon food such as rare candies and pokeblocks.
Biology: Misdreavus will go to great lenghts to scare people for its nourishment. It will jump up from behind, scream loudly, bite and tug at hair and ears to frighten them. The negative energy generated by these actions is then absorbed by the purple gems and distributed throughout the body. The power can also be used to energize moves such as thunderbolt, shadow ball and power gem.
Misdreavus is peculiar as a ghost pokemon, since it lacks the ability to phase through certain materials. Although it is still immune to normal and fighting type moves, Misdreavus has been found stuck under a tree that it should be able to phase through as a ghost-type. It is still unknown what causes this difference.
In ancient folklore, it is said that Misdreavus originates from a mischievous witch, that was decapitated for the sole reason of being a witch. After the decapitation, the head was said to float around, wail loudly and use its last breath to turn into a pokemon. No one has been able to prove or disprove this story, but Misdreavus’ characteristics and appearance can be explained by it.
Pokemon League Commission notes: Class D. Although they are relatively rare, the presence wild Misdreavus may be troublesome to nearby settlements due to the pokemon’s mischievous nature. As a result, catching Misdreavus is unrestricted.
Tickles:
Dark, but approved nonetheless. All of our beloved pokemon have few dark origins as well, or very dark entries in the base game. Take a look at Cacturne, Phantump, and Drifloom. Those are as dark as they get.
