[Pokedex Entry] Darkrai for Xetroc

(1/1)

fuzzy3158:
Pokemon #491, Darkrai, Dark type, Pitch-Black Pokemon.

Intro: Darkrai is the legendary bringer of nightmares. It is also the dark half of the lunar duo, where it represents the new moon. Cresselia forms the other part of this duo.
Darkrai's body is mostly black with a red decoration around his neck and with white 'hair'. It is sometimes said Darkrai looks like a slim-waisted black dress suit. The bottom of his body is less elegant, very raffled and doesn’t show any legs. When needed, Darkrai can extend his lower body to form two sharp legs. Darkrai’s arms have three sharp fingers. Its shoulders look like smoke and are constantly moving. Darkrai’s ‘hair’ has the same floating movement. The red decoration around his neck looks like the jaw of some creature with large teeth. Darkrai has two clear blue eyes with white pupils, although only one eye is usually visible.

Habitat: No definite habitat has been confirmed for Darkrai, although there have been several sightings of Darkrai on Newmoon Island.

Diet: It is not known whether Darkrai needs to feed for sustenance. According to legend, Darkrai feeds on the nightmares of others in order to sustain itself. It does so by using the move Dream Eater. It is not known whether it needs this energy to survive.

Biology: The existence of several Darkrai has been confirmed. Several locations have reported sightings of Darkrai, and some unregistered trainers have used Darkrai in the past. It is not known whether Darkrai reproduces, or if one is created under certain rare circumstances.
Darkrai is best known for its ability to cause nightmares to all those who sleep in its vicinity. Due to this ability, it was long thought that Darkrai was an evil pokemon. Though it is true that Darkrai’s sheer presence causes nightmares, it has been shown that some Darkrai regret this ability. Due to their ability, Darkrai are subject to scorn, prejudice and condemnation. Being chased from one location to another, some Darkrai choose to exile themselves and hide away from society to protect people and pokemon from its ability. Other Darkrai become vengeful bringers of misfortune, and actively seek out locations to cause nightmares, and are even drawn towards locations where people already have an abnormal amount of nightmares. Yet another type of Darkrai still insists on finding a location where it can find rest and companionship, despite the nightmares it causes.
People afflicted by Darkrai’s nightmarish powers can protect themselves with a lunar wing, a part of Cresselia. The presence of Cresselia itself can also neutralize the nightmares caused by Darkrai, and some of the more vengeful Darkrai find themselves chased by Cresselia, who want to stop Darkrai’s terror.
A Darkrai is the protector of our dimension, and puts itself at stake when it is threatened. It is able to sense impending calamity and fights at full power to protect reality from unmatched forces such as those caused by the battle between Dialga and Palkia. Darkrai is very protective of favored places and people, and will sacrifice its own life in order to protect them.
Darkrai is a very intelligent pokemon that is capable of human speech.
Darkrai can use its Bad Dreams ability to great effect in combat, since simply lulling an opponent to sleep is enough to defeat them. Its combat prowess allows him to hold his own against overwhelming odds, such as many attackers at once, and can even subdue several legendary pokemon for a short while. It uses its signature move Dark Void to subdue many opponents at once and whittle their ability to fight in conjunction with this ability.

Pokemon Leauge Commission notes:
Class A: Although prejudice towards the nature of Darkrai’s nightmares has been mostly cleared up, the fact that his presence causes nightmares is still very much a fact. In order to protect society from widespread sleep-deprivation and other mental illnesses, the PLC has forbidden the catching and use of Darkrai until further notice.
