Seasons(Fall,Winter,Spring and Summer)
« on: March 05, 2010, 12:58:05 AM »
I thought that it would be king of fun if there where seasons on this game(fall, winter, summer and spring). Just like in the real world fall and winter would be the couldest parts of the season it would rain and snow would be all over. Spring and summer it would be warm and hot the sun would be shining more. What I'm trying to say is bring more of a real world kind on affect in the game.

Sure if we can find someone who's going to make all the tilesets >.<

I don't say it's impossible, but do you have any idea how much work this is?

It's a cool idea, but it would require pretty much redoing all the exterior tilesets. Plus it would render pointless the existence of specific snowy areas, desert areas, etc.

What goes into making that change in the game, what is needed to be done, is it a long process?

3 revamps of each complete tileset. (one tileset can easily be 1000 tiles or more in the end)

To be honest, I think this is why in the Handheld games they made certain places cold or hot.  Also, if it affects the pokemon you encounter (certain types may hibernate or something), it would be really annoying to wait 3 months for the next seaon and set of pokemon to appear.

This would be awesome; And maybe there can be seasonal pokemon? [E.G.  small herd of Stantler roaming around in the winter, Cherubi and other grass types abundant in the spring, etc.]

I think the game should be released in beta and all the important base codes, art, etc. should be done first though.

This also brings up another idea, although it may be too complicated with different time zones... Day and night? Dark pokemon can be more abundant at night, and it would add the real effects of certain pokemon evolving. Not sure if this was mentioned already :]

Seasons would be nice but something that is not mandatory right now but as the game progresses and the team has time maybe they could work on it then.

I think it sounds like a really cool idea, but im like alot of people and i want this game to be out really soon. That idea seems like it would take alot longer to have to tile all that stuff all over again and everything...

honestly if this game is a huge success like i feel it will be, then it'll only be a matter of time when people with specialties from all over the world want to be a part of this game, and will offer their services ;P aka tile/sprite making :D

So I'm not too worried about it happening, just because I'm sure it will be done eventually.
