i always let the pokemon evolve the first time around, but after that, i normally go back and see what happens if they don't evolve. like Amphi said, some pre's are either better, cooler or both.

I let my pokémon evolve if they can normally. If they need an evolution stone, I choose the one who is the best balanced between coolness and strength. The 'like-factor' counts for 2/3th

All my friends evolve their Pokemon. I tend not to do that. Take Shinx for example. It learns Thunder Fang WAAAAAY earlier than Luxio or Luxray do. I speak from xperience.

I also think that evolving your Pokemon may be odd if you don't know what types it'll evolve into. Like, a Grotle (only grass type) evolves into Torterra (grass-ground type). That makes the effectiveness of Ice-type moves 4x instead of 2x.
Do you ever feel that one day, you're going to meet a real Pokemon? Yeah, I have SEPD. (That's short for Seriously Extreme Pokemon Addiction.)

I think I need to be put in a fanatic's mental hospital.

though that's true(turtwig is my first starter overall), the only pokemon you have to worry about are Gyarados, Ice routes, gym, lucian's Medicham, and Cynthia's Milotic. not only that, that combo type takes away electric moves, and makes poision regular
Even if one person steales waht you deserve, your reward will be even better than the last if you head down the right path.

I always let mine evolve because I get excited and can't hardly wait to see what the evolution looks like!  Plus I need bigger Pokemons so I can kick the gym leaders down to the ground!
