Just an idea but we could have PvP and PvE areas.
Like make the starting areas PvE so even if high level trainers come in they cant just own all new players. As you get further in the game you would have PvP areas where if you see another trainer you have to fight regardless of level. This could also work with rare pokemon by having them located in PvP areas thus player will have to take the risk of defeat to get a good team.
-
We have discussed issues about the level of a trainer too. Apparently, we'll be implementing a system where the trainer will also have levels.
Then, not all trainers will be able to battle others, depending on their level to avoid unfairness. This way, the whole area will be able to have PvP.
-
Yes i have read that however i still think it would be fun to have some areas that u have to battle no matter what and in them have rare pokemon or items thus making it a "hard" area.
High risk, High gain sort of thing.
-
Well, the pokemon you're looking for might be of a high level. The game is non-linear and you are practically allowed to go anywhere, but to your own risk as the wild pokemon can be of high levels. If the pokemon you want is in the 'high-level' areas, the pokemon itself will be giving you a hard time.
Also, I don't think any trainer will be waiting for you in the area you're heading to just to challenge you before you catch the pokemon you want. I guess they'll either be training or catching pokemon themselves if they're there.
-
Well this is true i just thought it was a good idea to have the two areas to add to the feel of a MMORPG
-
It's okay, just find some more creative ideas :)

Not gonna happen.

I dont get it. What is PvE?
I know its Player v. Environment (just looked it up)
But isnt PvE similar to finding/catching a wild Poke' or randomly battling an NPC?
-
PvE: is you and your team vs. mobs and bosses in the enviroment.
Thus playing the storyline will mean that you play PvE.

There will be no separate areas, our whole world is PvP & PvE.
-
If pvp battles are compulsory when someone challenges you (I'm not actually sure they should be, perhaps you could flag whether or not you want to be challenged) then I think at least towns should be safe areas. I can just imagine seeing some guy coming towards me and having to run away and hide in a pokecentre, lol.
-
Yes we have a challenge system where you have to challenge someone to battle with you. So if you don't want to battle you can decline the offer.

well that's cool, cuz id hate to have to battle every 5 steps when someone sees me lol.

Though this would make a good event. Worldwide free for all winner takes all and whoever you run pass will automatically triggers a battle.

haha that would be sick ! :D although there would have to be different lvl categories, since a lvl 50 character would obviously kill a lvl 3 noob.
-
So it would be like dueling in WoW.
Also would there be those npc trainers that you just cant avoid?
-
I hope that you will consider making an option you can check on and off at will that will make you unchallengeable and it should tell other players you cannot be challenged at this time so if someone is in the mood to just grind then they can do so. That like some other mmorpg's out you get re requested by some annoying person trying to get on top of some leader board and won't take no for an answer.
-
It might be fun to keep track of your streak of accepted battles (i.e. how long you go without turning someone down). Maybe even have achievements or rewards for it.

Yeah that's not a bad idea, maybe your name color changes when you're in no-challenge mode so people can easily see you don't want to battle.

Will there be a way to look up trainers or find out their lvl range before randomly battling them so the match is evenly leveled. Im sure at some point there will be people that lie about their lvls to get more wins, so that's not a very reliable method.

You'll be able to see their player level.

if you use a level system for trainers (experience/badges/reputation/or whatever) can you not make it that you can only challenge players of equal or greater experience.
this would enable lower experienced players the option of challenging more experienced players if they want to.
this would prevent high level players targeting weaker ones.
this would enable the option of making these challenges result in compulsory battles in certain areas (eg non town). (maybe to prevent players lurking on the outskirts of a town/pokecentre to ambush returning trainers in need of healing an option in player options could be set to healing mode if your pokes are all damaged - which enables a decline option when challenged).
look fwd to seeing this platform in action regardless.

Nope, you'll be able to challenge everyone (it's up to the challenged player to accept/decline the battle). Only thing is if you beat someone who is a lower level then you, you'll get less exp. then when you beat someone who has a higher level.
And yes, you'll be able to see the level of the other players.
