Just out of interest, are you planning on introducing a banking system? This would enable players to keep their money risk free (can't lose it in a fight). Also are you going to allow players to store items in the PC like the GBA games? Or will everybody have unlimited inventory like in P/D/PT?

(can't lose it in a fight)
What's the point of battling someone else if you can't take some of their money as a prize?
(Besides experience)
....
Unless you want to have to chose an item equal to the same value to give instead. >:3

tournaments? All players pay an entry cost and the winner gets all the money in the pot :) or just friendly rivalry to see who is better?

There will be a bank where you can store your money. As for items and stuff, you'll be able to store them in your depot or (if you own one) your house.

ok sounds good. Also how will the pokemon storage be managed?
-
I believe it'll be the same as in D/P/Pt.

Maybe if you are storing your money so that you don't lose some of it when you *faint* then it should be taxed upon deposit. Just a possibility some may not like it but it might keep people from running straight to the bank a whole lot, just so someone they happen to battle doesn't win a percent of their hard earned money

Ugh, no. Besides, your record is on the line when you battle an opponent. I hope PU team finds a way to not let people abuse it(intentionally losing to someone)
