seriously tho whats a team without a starter? how can u make an electric team and plan to stop earthquake? i just don't think its fair to ppl who use certain types.
Magnet rise is one of many simple ways for electric teams to counter ground. I have a bug team but i make sure to be prepared to fight rock and fire teams. rock attacks for fire and fighting for rock. just know your weakness of your team and do your best to compensate it. then when you win...its just like Jerry said. For them, it's a challenge and when they manage to win, they feel that they won much more than just a simple match.

Thanks
And yeah i know a lot of choice items are bad but i switch out a lot to get the move i need that one of my other Pokemon may have. This build here has won me multiple turnys on smogon shoddy battle.
I'll probably just switch out forretress. Only had it mainly for rapid spin cause stealth rock eats my team for breakfast...since we cant use it i guess ill go with another. perhaps a shuckle wall with Acupressure. Only got that combo to work like two times but it was so fun to see little shuckle become a god.
Edit: How about this:
Shuckle: Leftovers Sturdy Toxic Encore / Acupressure Rest Protect / Gyro Ball 248 HP / 252 Def
Yanmega: Choice Specs Tinted Lens Bug Buzz Air Slash Hidden Power Ground U-turn 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Heracross: Flame Orb Guts Swords Dance Close Combat Megahorn Stone Edge 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Pinsir: Life Orb Mold Breaker Swords Dance X-Scissor Earthquake Stone Edge 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Ninjask: focus sash speed boost Swords Dance Baton Pass Substitute Aerial Ace 176 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Spe
Scizor: Choice Band Technician U-turn Bullet Punch Superpower Pursuit 248 HP / 252 Atk

This says it all.
Gotta go all out here otherwise your just gonna be of the rest
I liked the 17 trainers idea because of the one type teams, even if they all share a weakness its a good idea and a challenge. But making an exception for even one pokemon kills the entire idea.
Agreed. I would like to be a part of the challenge if its going to be enforced like Chad says it will. Only reason i left is cause it was turning into something besides single type team trainers. @Chad. I would like to re-apply for the Bug position if you don't mind.

No, it's more like the majority of our pokemon will be of one type, but we are allowed a few exceptions if that pokemon works well with that team. Like a Toxicroak in a water based team due to its ability. Charizard does look like a dragon and learns dragon attacks, so it's fine.
I originally joined under the assumption this guild would be one type teams only. Seeing as it is now not, I resign my position as bug trainer. Good luck and have fun everyone.

I would of thought, being that you wanted a giuld that had trainers specialized in a certian type, you would of put a restriction on the teams to being purely one type teams. If those restrictions aren't there, then you may as well be killing the idea behind the 17 trainers.
I Agree. I vote we enforce the restriction of having one type teams.

I'm hoping Chad's guild gets going in-game, if not i guess I'll have to make my own guild of one type wonders. Single type teams give me more of a challenge, and I'm a man who loves his challenges.

I'm definitely going for rain dance with the elec team, for one really cool reason that i found out playing platinum... heh heh heh....
Thunder has 100% accuracy.
thunder PP 10 (max. 16) Power 120 Accuracy 70%
With Rain Dance it has a 100% accuracy.

yeah but not all weather teams consist of one type. I have a sandstorm team with ground rock and steel.
don't forget the abilities: Chlorophyll Dry skin swift swim
A Dry skin Pokemon can be put in with a water team and benefit from rain dance.

Yupp, as darkie explained, starter pokemon will be bound to the player, hence you cannot trade them.
So those of us that don't like the starters cant trade them for something we do like? or at least let the 2nd and 3rd evo be tradeable.
