Archived / Re: Styles of 'battling'
« on: February 08, 2010, 03:30:18 AM »
I think linking moves like in mystery dungeon is a bad idea, as is having the power of a pokemon in its pokeball affect the battle (because it doesn't happen in the anime).

However

Pokemon Universe is NOT a gameboy game. It is a MMO and needs adjusting to match. The main reason for this has been covered extensively by Level5Pidgey, and is that 80% of pokemon are useless in competitive PvP battles, and as such we absolutely require that something is added or changed from the existing (heavily imbalanced and therefore flawed) battle system. The second reason is that new game mechanics add a new and exciting spin to what is going to be a new game.

I'm in complete agreement with Level5Pidgey, if the battle system is not changed from the "original ruby + ect" then I feel like this MMO might fail. Well not really fail, but most pokemon are not gonna be seen, and everyone will be carrying the same pokemon around just to beat everyone else.

Name: Todd Powroznick
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Esper
Primary DNA; Xatu (Psychic/Flying)
Secondary DNA; Jolteon (Electric)

Apearance: [HUMAN]: Todds true appearance has been altered from his normal state now that he's been overpowered by the addicting injections. Todd is about 5feet 7inches tall, and has real pale/light green looking skin. His nails are bit longer and sharper than usual. He has two normal looking human eyes, and one oddly black colored centered eye on his forehead. His hair is short and is as white as snow. It's spiked back like it's jelled into individual spikes. He has 2 long strands of hair coming down from his side burns with what looks like almost a tribal bead thing going on. He hates his appearance even though it's not as bad as he makes it to be, and it's easy to hide any real Esper appearance. His body is usually very warm to the fact it's almost like he holds an electric current inside of him.

[BATTLE FORM]: When transforming into his battle form, he gets shorter than his human form although he still somewhat resembles his human form a bit more. His face shapes into a more bird look, with his nose and mouth turning into a bright yellow beak. His finger and toe nails become longer and sharper, and his main color is yellow. All his eyes are opened, and pitch black. His hair grows longer still with the spike looked. He has two white spiked feather wings on his back, but still hasn't gotten the hang of long distance flying.

[MOVES]:
Physical-
1.Tap Wave- He must touch someone for this move to work. He sends an electric current through the person/pokemons spine to paralyze them for a good amount of time through his palm. Can burn his palm if done wrong.
2. Caving Wings- His wings retract around himself covering most of his body, and almost like a thunderbolt surrounds him through the friction of his feathers creating a shielding electrical charge + his wings. (for defense)
3.Slash- If the opponent is within reach Todd can use a regular slash with his stronger nails, and slice deep into their skin with a chance of causing paralysis.
4. Acute Senses- His third eye sharpens all of his senses, and skills.

Special-
1.The Illusionist- If the opponent stares into his foreheads centered eye, they'll loose their sense of "true" site, and see him where's he's not truley standing. (basically you're throwing your moves into the wrong direction, not really a dodge).
2.Shock Pulse- Shocks the heart of another person to attempt to bring them back to life is close to death. When used on himself his body gets heated up and is damaged, but can fight and get back up with some serious wounds. If overused it can his cause death due to over fatigue.
3.Choke- Can use his psychic ability for a small period of time to choke his opponents using all 3 eyes.
4.Corrupted Instinct- When in a serious state of mind all 3 eyes widen up, Todd loses control of ALL human instinct, no sympathy or remorse who and what ever is around. It lasts until he gets fatigued or someone restrains him well enough (though it won't be easy).  He sends electric pulses everywhere; frying the life of anything. His psychic ability and 3 eyes let him see things much slower than they really are, and can dodge most attacks. Not much strategy in his attacks, just in a powered frenzy.

I'll think of more later :P

[BACKGROUND]: I'll come back and edit this later too, i need to do some stuff around the house right now. xD

Okay thanks for clearing that up I was just posting assuming legendaries were catchable. Do you know if any starters are catchable?? (as in Charizard, Infernape, or Bulbasaur)

they will be scattered around the new region that PU is making. (forgot the name ATM. Maryaus?)

I absolutely loved it. :]

I especially like the ending, where only people who've completed the quest are allowed to search for fire pokemon to catch and stones to buy in the town.

« on: February 06, 2010, 02:55:17 AM »
I hated how in Y/R/B you had to WALK everywhere :'( and how all the sprites looked the same in your inventory.

I also kind of hate the "crys" in the pokedex. They're all the same poop! The same annoying "aksldfjgnsdfn" noise. I mean i know they're not literally the same noise, but really !?!? Why the hell a screeching noise for every pokemon?! At least give the effort to put in real pokemon sounds, or just dont put that in at all...

that's crazy lol, I kind of wish they aired it in the U.S. cuz I probably would have been one of those boys in the hospital. You're prob like why the hell would u wanna do that ?

Well I think it'd be a good story to tell my grandchildren one day xD
"I was watching pokemon one morning and one of Porygons attacks came out the T.V. and hit me" :'(

I think the best part of pokemon is you have all the freedom in the world to go where ever you want at a young age, just because you have a pokemon to protect you from evil or bad. Anyways.

I would do 1 of 2 things.

Scenario 1: Start my own "evil" crew, and start stealing everyone's pokemon and selling them the highest bidder, making a ruckus and all that just for fun.

Scenario 2: Catch like 3 pokemon, and travel to any place that seems worthy of checking out, any interesting places, or just party places and having some fun with the chicks (;

I hate

Shellos because it's basically another Slugma.

Spiritomb <--- Seriously... wtf is that ? When the newer pokemon where still unofficial i thought this piece of poop was fake. turns out it was real >:/

and then i hate all generation 4 legenderies. Why the hell so many ?
It just makes legenderies not as cool or rare.

Started of with just Mew, Mewtwo, and the 3 legendary birds.

then two new birds, and 3 dog type looking things. (and they where still bad ass looking)

but they just had to keep on adding and adding, and it just made me feel like a legendary wasn't so legendary at all.

^^^
BTW I do know them name of the "legendary birds and dogs", just said it like that cuz im feelin lazy right now lol

ok before everyone in the forum starts saying that pokemon keep getting stupid looking with every gen just remember that origeneraly pokemon was made for 10 - 12 year olds after school and then other people of other ages started liking it or grew up with it like us. the designs are just becoming more realistic than they used to be so that kids can reconizes the pokemon for their basic structure. like infernape is soposed to be a monkey. torterra is a land tortois. totadile is a alligater/crocodile. and other examples thereof. opinions are well and dandy but pokemon is pokemon they all have good traits and they all have bad traits. I mean have any of you actually trained all 493 pokemon to lv. 100. sure some are extremely powerful but beating the strong one with a team of lv. 100 caterpies kakunas and others of the like is something that can be a good experience.

Ok. Firstly, Pokemon is definitely still made for the 6-14 age group. Those of us who are older than that either loved Pokemon as younger kids, or are here simply because Pokemon is so huge, that by probability there is going to be a large community of older fans (though still vastly outnumbered by young kids).

I'm not sure what you mean by "getting more realistic" with each generation. I took the liberty of counting the number of pokemon which appear to be closely based on an animal or plant:

Gen 1 - 93/151 62%
Gen 2 - 47/100 47%
Gen 3 - 66/135 49%
Gen 4 - 55/107 51%

The design of Pokemon is getting lazier, an example being the number with an oval for a head -

Plusle, Minun, Nuzleaf, Slakoth, Spinda, Aipom, Pachirisu, Ambipom, Buneary, Glameow, Purugly, Mime Jr., Croagunk, Lickylicky, Electivire, Lake spirits.

Notice I'm not even including those that should have round heads, like Pichu, Torchic, Mudkip, Surskit, Swablu etc.

There are also copies made, some of which are ok, and some which are just unnecessary:

Sentret/Furret and Zigzagoon/Linoone
Pichu, Plusle, Minun and Pachirisu
Wurmple/evolutions and Caterpie/Weedle/evolutions
Meowth/Persian and Skitty/Delcatty and Glameow/Purugly are all normal type housecats
Venomoth and Dustox and Mothim - do we really need three different moth pokemon?
Magnezone, Electivire, Magmortar and Rhyperior just look bad. They ruin four great lines of pokemon.

Also, Torterra is based on Aspidochelone, a legendary sea turtle with an island on its back.

There are many Pokemon with no redeeming features at all. I won't list them here, but explain to me the appeal of Dunsparce, for instance, or Volbeat and Illumise, strictly on an artistic level, because that is what this thread is about.

I don't see why I have to train every (or any!) Pokemon to 100 to hate a design.

It is difficult for the designers to constantly make new Pokemon, but that doesn't mean we can't have an opinion. Some of the designs are just plain bad.

All that being said, this topic was intended to be just for fun!

Exactly this! The thread wasnt intended for pokemon that are bad to train and play with in the game, its for pokemon we dislike.

You wouldnt buy a very expensive car because it performs well if its extremely ugly.

Off Topic but-
I would actually buy performance over looks. If it'll make you some $$$ on the streets then u can buy urself something that looks nice later lol :P
