HELP US TEST!!

Okay guys!
I've been teasing at this a while now, we are going to be letting 10 PU members to help us test!
As you saw recently, the PU team has implemented 34% of the fully evolved Pokemon in the game - this means that testing is becoming quite a handful for us, as the number of permutations is astounding. As we usually try to focus on the Pokemon that we most recently implement - it becomes hard to tell if a team combining Swampert and Dragonite is fun, or a team with Volcarona and Pidgeot is overpowered.

So as stated, we're bringing 10 of you in.
You will be expected to battle against members of the team and other testers - but most importantly, report on any balance issues you find.
Report a Pokemon if it seems too strong, or too weak.
Explore the Pokemon as much as you can - we might have overlooked combos that Liepard can pull off, we want you to find them and make sure they're not overpowered.

Now, here's where I'd say "But most of all! Have fun!"
But, really... we need you to be responsible and reliable when reporting balance issues.
So,
1. Report Balance issues.
2. HAVE FUN!
3. Kick Shadowfred's butt for me.

And as an extra bonus,
If you do your job well, you may be let into the PU Beta when we get close to release!

So how do I apply?
Fill out this form:

Code: [Select]
Name:
Age:

Favourite Pokemon:
How much competitive battling experience do you have?
How much do you know of each Pokemon?
Do you know names and types? Cool! But it'd be better if you knew their movepool and competitive sets.
How's your maths?
Bet you're wishing you passed that last exam.

Why do you think you would be useful when testing the PU metagame?
Why do you think we should pick you?
What changes do you think should be made to the current metagame?
Do you think there are big balance concerns in standard Pokemon? Do you hate Stealth Rock? Tell us here!

Don't let the little quiz scare you.
It'll still be a blast.

Completed Reports / #530 - Excadrill
« on: May 22, 2011, 12:16:37 PM »
Name: Excadrill
Number: 530
Type: Ground / Steel

Abilities: Sand Force, Sand Rush, Mold Breaker

Base Stats:

Level Up Move Edits:

Example Set
Sand Abuse @ Life Orb
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Sand Rush, Adamant
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Explanation of Set
So, you may look at Excadrill, his nerfed Sand Rush - and heavily nerfed attack and say "WHAT? HE'S USELESS NOW!" but... he's far from it. He still has 110 Base HP with a Steel typing, allowing him to take resisted hits with ease - and he still has a lovely Attack stat and Swords Dance to compliment it. Throw in that he can speed up in weather, and you'll be hard pressed to find a better attacker.
Force a switch, Sub up, Swords Dance, and sweep like a beast.

Scarf @ Choice Scarf
252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 HP
Flash Fire, Timid
- Overheat
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power Ice

Explanation of Set
This guy is like Mamoswine if Mamoswine was specially oriented and able to pretty much PERFECTLY wall Blaziken, Infernape, and Arcanine.
Use Fire moves for anything that is weak, or 1x to Fire. Use Shadow Balls for additional STAB, and use Hidden Power Ice for Dragons that have not yet Danced.

Example Set
Physical Tank @ Leftovers
252 HP / 128 Def / 128 Spe
Immunity, Jolly
- Roost
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Toxic / Knock Off

Explanation of Set
Gliscor is a beast of a Tank - and, now it can't be poisoned.
Switch into physical hits, soak them up like they're nothing, and proceed to annoy your opponent like there's no tomorrow.
Taunt is for obvious reasons - while Knock Off is now useful on this set due to its less dismal power, and it can really help deal with a multitude of Scarfers - like the Dragons.

A scarf set on a DRAGON?
It's more likely than you think!

Same as all the other dragons. Just Garchomp's faster, has more attack than most, and has better STABs.

Moxie, Jolly
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast

Explanation of Set
With a Dragon Dance under his belt, Salamence is scary - sure, but... with Moxie, he gets even scarier. It's damn important to carry Pokemon who are capable of taking 2x power Outrages on your teams because of Salamence.

Example Set
Mixed @ Life Orb
56 Atk / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Multiscale, Mild
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Superpower / Earthquake
- ExtremeSpeed

Explanation of Set
Switch in, and just start hitting hard and fast. This set is great at breaking walls.
Superpower takes down Blissey, Flamethrower hits Steels and bulky Grass, Extremespeed takes chunks out of opposing attackers, and Draco Meteor is a powerful move that hits most Pokemon neutrally.

Example Set
AgiliGross @ Life Orb
88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Clear Body, Adamant
- Agility
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
- ThunderPunch / Zen Headbutt

Explanation of Set
168 Speed is enough to outspeed Jolteon and Co. From there, you Meteor Mash to try to get your attack up, and attempt a sweep.
The great thing about Metagross is that he's pretty bulky - so, even if your agility sweep gets walled early on the first attempt, you'll usually be able to attempt another late game.

Swift Swim, Jolly
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Return / Rest

Explanation of Set
Dragon Dance up, and hit as hard as you can. Taking a Lum Berry lets you laugh in the faces of enemies who think that status is going to slow you down. It can especially help if you decide to take Rest over Return in your final slot.

Egg Move Edits:

Example Set
Curselax @ Leftovers
188 HP / 104 Def / 216 SpD
Thick Fat, Careful
- Curse
- Body Slam / Return
- Earthquake / Crunch / Fire Punch
- Rest / Selfdestruct

Explanation of Set
Straight from Gen IV Smogon - it's the Snorlax we love to hate.
This Snorlax is just as specially bulky as the nerfed Blissey, but don't get any ideas - he has no reliable recovery, and few support moves.
So, what should he do?
Curse of course!
Curse up, put holes in the enemy team - and hope they have little to kill you before you can really wreck havoc.
