Ideas & Suggestions / Re: Hidden Power

Would you rather have EVs decide the type and power. At least then you could control what it would be.

There will be no EV's in PU.

How would you go about battle scarring a ghost pokemon like haunter?

Emotional scarring; not as easily visible, but just as satisfying.

Well fact is, there is 3 on 3 pokemon battle in GenV, together with a new mode of battle called triple battle rotation.

For more details: http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/battle.shtml

But until all the mechanics are understood, the feature cannot be implemented in PU.

I always assume the safe approach when it comes to games and getting my hopes up; if you like the idea, assume it won't make the game. It's a long process to make a game, and sometimes things get cut.

3v3 will most likely be in the final version of the game, though.

I think it will be fine. This way, I can focus on the new Pokemon. I can learn their moves, stats, combinations, etc. but without having to think if I want an older Pokemon in place of them. (Like trading something good for the obligatory suckish Bug Pokemon.)

I agree except with a different pokemon. In pokemon crystal version, Furret's pokedex entry says that it burrows underground to make nests, and there is also an episode where a furret uses dig. Yet, furret never learns dig in it's natural move pool.

How can it make burrows if it doesn't learn dig naturally?

Digging, much like riding a bike, is an acquired skill. He learns it through TM.

There is a good chance that there will be 3v3 battles in Pokemon Black and White. So, the best course of action would be to wait for a feature such as this. That way, we'll understand how they planned it better.

1] There are a lot of errors.
2] It's plain. Maze or no, it has no substance to it. You used three tiles.
3] It's not much of a maze. Going straight north can practically get you through it.

I'm really hoping that Lugia drops my axe in the beta. Tbh, I could really use the +12 Electric Damage on my Jolteon. I'm not specced for axes, though. So, I'd have to respec for that.

Pretty good. Most people make a few, think they suck, then quit. Looks like you could do really well with this. Since you wanted a few pointers, or just helpful suggestions I guess, I can offer up a few:

- First things first. You want a clear background. The black is very distracting and not very pretty. I think there are a few ways to do this on the internet (websites and whatnot), but I just do it in paint.NET. The images you can download already come with clear backgrounds for spriting.
- Secondly, this is related to the first, if you don't already then I recommend pokemonelite2000.com as a spriting resource. It's definitely helped me out. If you right click, save as, and open the files that way, it should also solve the black backgrounds.
- Always, always, always save as a .png file. JPEGS are horribly blocky and rendered when saved. Saving as a .png fixes this.
- Clean up your sprites. Now, I'm definitely calling the kettle black here, because a few of my sprites are pretty messy if you zoom in enough and look closely. (You can partly faded blocks of color I didn't get out when I was experimenting with color.) Cleaning them up can go a long way towards making them more attractive.
- And finally, have fun. If you aren't having fun with a fusion, don't do it. Chances are, it will come out poorly because you didn't like it or expected it to.

Hope any of that helps.

In-Forum Games / Re: [Game] Rate That Signature!!

You use a Growlithe. That is reason enough to warrant a 10/10. However, the writing for the links is pretty poorly done. (It has white holes in it and it's an odd color.) The banner is cool, though. So, 8/10.

Man, this brings up memories of DBZ commercials back in the day.

"New Battle scarred Goku!"

"He can preform fusion attacks with vegeta, to defeat evil!"

I feel old now.

There will be mini-games, I can assure you. Mini-tournaments, puzzles, attractions and more. They most likely won't be in the early versions of the open beta, if at all, seeing as that would detract from work around the actual game.

But, expect them in, yes.

Fan Fiction & Writing / Re: Uknown - <Witty title hereya.>
« on: July 24, 2010, 07:31:39 PM »
Well, just as a heads up (and because I posted in my sprite thread), writing is going slow. In fact, everything is going slow for me right now. School, work, PU, everything. I've been so dead tired, I've barely wanted to do anything. It doesn't help that I get little down time.

But, enough about me. I'm still working on the next installment of the story and having a friend edit his. So, it'll be a bit. However, I was asked by another good friend to give writing a Pokemon fiction story a try. The only stipulation was that Aron had to be in it somewhere. I think I'll start working on that as a side project, and anything I finish I'll just post up in this thread so you guys can follow.

Ciao.
