(1)Starter quest: -------------- The professor has given you your pokemon and introduced you into the world, but being new, you lack experience to catch a pokemon, therefore the professor gives you an assignment to go catch a pokemon upon completing the introduction. The professor gives you one pokeball and tells you to return once you catch a pokemon. Go catch any pokemon and return, He gives you a tiny amount of Experience, 100 yen, and 5 pokeballs upon completion.
I don't think this is really needed, nothing really happens here. It's also important to note what would happen if you are unsuccessful in capturing a pokemon with your first pokeball. Then again, it would be a simple quest to start you off....hmm.... I dunno, I'm kind of on the fence about this one. It really depends on what the starter quest will be in game, as this would be more like an optional tutorial quest in most likely hood. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2)Branch quest, requires completion of starter quest. --------------------------------------------------
Upon completing the starter quest, the option to assist the professor's aid becomes available. To start the quest, speak to [designated aid] and he will ask you to go catch random pokemon 1, or random pokemon 1 and 2, as new trainers are in need of pokemon, but the lab is currently lacking. This quest can be completed daily, hence the first daily quest idea for the game. You would have to go to the designated area of the pokemon,or search the lands for them if you do not know the location, making this quest more of an adventure. Upon completing this quest you recieve [designated reward] (I have not thought of a reward). This quest can be completed daily, and increases in difficulty with your player level.
Now this I think has some interesting potential. It brings a new spin on attempting to complete your pokedex. However there should be some restriction on the pokemon you bring him. The biggest problem I see with this, is people finding out they need pokemon "a", and asking their friend if they can borrow pokemon "a" in order to get a reward, only to return the pokemon to their friend afterward. For this reason, the professor's assistant would either have to check the original trainer number of the pokemon (to verify that you were the one that caught it), or you would have to give the professor's assistant the pokemon. Actually, come to think of it, that might not be a bad idea. Give the pokemon to the professor's assistant, so that if you want to keep that pokemon, but still get that one checked off of the list for the quests, you would have to catch two. It should also be random which pokemon you are requested to bring, and the pokemon would change daily. By making it change constantly, it would set a time limit on when you can complete the quest, so if you fail to catch the pokemon by the end of the day you will have to go searching for a different pokemon the next day. However, there should be a list of which of these missions you completed, so you're not always searching for the same one. Hmmm.... I wonder if I just made it overly complicated. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3)Evolution quest(requires player level -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A certain NPC wishes to evolve their pokemon, but lacks the certain stone, item, etc to evolve it, So they give you the name of an NPC who has the item. Upon traveling to the NPC, they tell you that they would be happy to give it to you if you would aquire for them a certain [random pokemon, item, etc] , after completing your search and aquiring the neccessary item and/or pokemon, they give you the item and/or stone, and you return to the original NPC who wanted the item, where you recieve [Insert Reward here]
I actually don't usually like these kinds of quests, and this one is no acception. Sorry, I just hate tedious work where you have to go find item "a" for guy "1", but in order to get item "a", you have to get item "b" for guy "2", oh but wait, here's where it gets really good, get this, you have to get item "c" for guy "3", in order to get item "b" for guy "2". I have seen this sort of quest work in the past, but it doesn't happen a lot. Normally, in order for this to work, you would have to elaborate on the idea, and make it more than just speaking with people. Trainers should be required to actually carry out some mission, in order to acquire the item. Now, I think I should mention that I actually think there should be a few item quests similar to this, but on a much larger scale, like so big, that you probably won't be able to access most of the people or items until after you beat a good majority of the game. There should, as I said, only be a few of these though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (4)Spin off quest( end of Spirit's) [must have completed restaurant recovery] -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon finishing restaurant recovery, You speak to the chef again, and tell him of the trials you have faces, including seviper and zangoose. He stalls for a second, and then begins doting on a past visit to a [insert Certain NPC at Certain Location]. He then tells you of the ongoing feud between Zangoose and Seviper. He even tells you that the scars on Zangoose were past wounds from battles between the two carried on in future generations to remind them of the war which is still underway. He tells you to go visit [NPC/location afformentioned].
Upon reaching your destination, the NPC Starts to fill you in a bit more detailed on the history of the two pokemon, and then tells you how two factions got involved in the war. A group of pokemaniacs branched to each side of the feuding pokemon, and now a small war is going on between these groups. He tells you that this feud is causing trouble for the people in the region as usually the little skirmishes involve them, and wishes there was some way to stop the madness, upon hearing this your character offers to help. The NPC then tells you the location of both factions hideouts, which have recently been moved.
The seviper team's base is located in a cave, and the zangoose team's base is located in a small forest hideout. You can choose to visit either one first, as this will not effect the quest. Each team has something they want. Upon entering the seviper base, you beat various seviper enthusiasts who all have a seviper and assorted other pokemon, and you may run into various pokemon along the way, upon reaching the end of the cave, you come across a man named Malik, he instantly is agressive and begins to battle you, upon beating him and his powerhouse seviper, you question him about the longstanding feud, and then he tells you why he is angry, and you tell him this can be fixed by talking it out with the zangoose leader, he tells you if you bring him [insert item here] he will agree to meet with the zangoose leader under peaceful terms. After bringing him the items, he will agree and give you a designated location to meet.
Upon entering the zangoose team's base, you fight various trainers with zangoose and other various pokemon, and then make your way through this maze of a hideout, at end you meet a woman named Elly, and she is also immediately agressive towards you as well. Upon defeating her and her powerhouse zangoose, she also tells you the reason she is angry, and you tell her the solution. She also agrees to meet with the seviper lead at [insert location] if you would bring her [insert item]. After you locate and bring her the item, she agrees.
Now, you must travel to the designated location, where the two teams are feuding, Malik and Elly finish a battle and then realise the strength of one another, the bond of battling is a bond stronger than any other, therefore, out of mutual respect and because of your help, they have agreed to a mutual treaty for the moment, and will also let the pokemon know of this treaty. Although the hatred is there, the respect leads both parties to this decision.
Upon this realization, you return to [The NPC the chef told you to visit] and he thanks you graciously and states "I believe the citizens may now also rest easy for a period." Then he rewards you with [insert reward here].
First, let me just say that I am honored that you were, as you stated on chat, inspired enough by my quest to expand on it and write your own ideas. For those of you who haven't read my quest, you can do so here: http://pokemon-universe.com/index.php/topic,490.msg6040/topicseen.html#newNow, what was it I was going to say about this? I forgot. Hang on, let me read it again. ... Oh, here's something. I don't think any one NPC should know the location of the two factions "hideouts", instead, it would seem more appropriate for him to know a general location, or a description of the landscape around them, or some landmark, or a screenshot of the general area. The reason I would suggest this is simple, for one, it makes it seem more "hidden", and two, it adds to the exploration in game. Ok, back to reading. ... Ah, the item's you have to bring the faction leaders, for simplicity sake, this should just be a letter. But I do like that you can go to either one first. It should be added then, that you receive a decent boss-sized loot from both factions leaders Oh yeah, by the way... "Malik" huh? That sounds kinda like Marik: the guy we're trying to defeat in this season. Anyway, back to the reading. ... Ok, I don't know if it should be necessary to have Elly and Malik fight each other at some other location, or really at all. I see the importance of doing something to seal the bond between them, but I'm just trying to think about how easy this would be to be developed (scripted out), and I wan't to avoid as many continuity errors as I can. I always laugh at the idea of watching an event between two people that can also be seen somewhere else, and doing something else in the game by other people at the same time. Perhaps, an alternative solution could be placed here. Also, one final note. Do you know what would happen if two factions, who's whole lives were revolved around fighting each other, suddenly stopped their quarrel's and worked together? I'm thinking a few teenagers lose their sense of belonging, and well....psychological analysis ensues... Heh heh, I smell yet another follow up. (oh, between you and me, I have many other idea's for quests and stories that branch off of this one, the one you just branched off of, and basically all others I'm working on....in other words, there is more to Restaurant Recovery than I have written thus far. But don't tell anyone I said that.) ...what do you mean I posted that in a public forum for all to see? Oh, and thanks again for the HUGE honor, and appreciation of my work!

Ok, so I've been feeling like I have been cheating everyone by not giving you any hints at what I'm doing with the team.
For those who don't know, I am the Story Writer for PU, I write stories/quests, and NPC dialog and such. Now, just because I'm posting this here doesn't mean that this quest is guaranteed to be in the game exactly as it is written here, or even at all (but there is probably a better chance).
So anyway, here is a quest I just cooked up, unfortunately for you guys, parts of this will have [...] to indicate I cut something out. ...you know, for spoilers, I can't give everything away. Also, a note to team members, please feel free, to cut things and put that in its place if you see something you don't think should be revealed.
Also, I recognize, that I like to write (what do you expect from a story writer), and so this quest is a little long, over 3 pages (in its entirety) in Microsoft Word to be exact, so for your benefit, there will be a tl;dr (too long; didn't read) version, for those of you that just what a simplified summary. However, it is currently 4:00 in the morning, and my vision is starting to go, so I will write that later. You will be able to find the summarized version in the post after this one. This quest starts out in a restaurant similar to the ones that have appeared in recent games. Inside are patrons sitting at tables eating; some of the customers will battle you, either solo, or duel. Some of the customers will just speak with you; one of the things some of the customers would say is that they wish they could get some of the chef’s special, but he doesn’t seem to be making any, and that even if he was, they wouldn’t be able to afford it. At the back of the restaurant you can approach a counter (where other NPC trainers could be sitting at bar stools), and speak with an employee. The employee would be able to sell you different foods, or drinks that boost a little bit of HP. There would also be doors that lead to the kitchen, but would have a man standing beside them that would refuse you entry. After you purchase enough products from the restaurant, you would be allowed to pass into the kitchen in order to: “thank the chef”. Speaking with the chef he would mention that many of the required ingredients for his special keep getting stolen from him, and he requires a strong trainer to go locate his ingredients. In order to initiate the quest from this point, you must have also defeated all of the customers in the dining area. Once you meet the requirements for the quest, the chef will speak of a gang of Meowths, and other felines that have been stealing his ingredients, and request that you locate their base and return what rightly belongs to him. He also promises to reward you, of course. (oh, did I forget to mention that there are a bunch of Meowth’s and Skitty, and Glameow running around town?) The next part of the quest is left primarily to exploration (although, I would expect people to help their friends get through it, or for players to go onto wiki walkthroughs, or for NPC’s to give you subtle hints). Outside of town, [...] you will find several pokemon, with an emphasis on Meowth, Skitty, and Glameow, and as you get closer to the end, their evolutions begin to appear in increasing numbers as well. Finally you come upon a room filled with boxes, some of which are opened, but the majority are closed. In the center of the room, on a raised, stone platform, is a Persian, guarded by two Zangoose. Approach the stone platform, and climb the stairs, and you will initiate a fight with the two zangoose (who are of course high levelled). After defeating the two guards, you will be able to walk a little foreword and fight a very strong Persian. If the trainer is successful in defeating this Persian, [...] you also get a “restaurant package” in your loot. Take the “restaurant package” back to the restaurant and return it to the chef. The chef will then proceed to reward you with a small bit of money, experience, and a free “chef special”, which is basically another heal item. After you have completed the quest, you can always go back and talk to the chef again, who will still mention how he is missing a lot of his ingredients. You can of course, still go into the cat caves (heh heh, “cat cave”), and make your way down to the room with all the boxes,[...] but you can still receive a “restaurant package” upon victory. You can perform this process as many times as you see fit to earn a free “chef special”, but you will not receive the other rewards for repeating this quest. Oh yeah, and in case you were wondering about those patrons who couldn’t afford the “chef special”, I haven’t forgotten about them. When you return to the restaurant you will have the option to speak with these patrons, and give them the “chef special” instead. If you choose to follow this path, the patrons will tell you that they don’t have any money to give you, but for your graciousness, they will give you a key card to their base. _____________________________________________________________ Oh right, I should probably mention, this is a mutli-part quest _____________________________________________________________ Great, now for part two of the quest. If you go to one of the towers in town, you will be able to use the key card you got from the restaurant to enter a room past the lobby and begin your ascent. Inside, you will find a [...] You may now [...] as you climb the levels of the building you will find more and more NPC’s that will attack you. The majority of the pokemon in this building are: Growlith, Snubbull, Houndour, and Poochyena. Not all of the pokemon in this building have trainers, some of them are wild and roaming the building on their own (random battles). As you climb the building and get closer to the top, the ratio of dog type pokemon to other pokemon will become increasingly one sided (toward the canine), also, those pokemon’s evolutions will begin to appear. When you finally reach the top level, which looks like a corporate boss’ office, you will see two Seviper, who upon approaching will initiate a battle with you. After successfully defeating the two Seviper, [...], and be able to freely walk into the office. Inside the office is a man standing beside a desk. Speak with the man at the desk and he will tell you that some time ago, his corporation had managed to get their hands on[...] After the boss’ Granbull was attacked by a Persian in town,[...] but that he is not sure the boss’ decision was a good one, since [...] The man has no more information, but he can’t help but think that all that has happened is a good indication that they had done something wrong. He claims he tried to tell this to his boss, but his boss wouldn’t listen, but suspects that you must be here to try and stop him. Finally he states that he would like to help you battle the boss, but he has no pokemon so you will have to do it by yourself. Fortunately, that is purely for back story, and to try to explain what is going on. It is not necessary for you to speak with this man, that way people can just go on to the final part, if they would rather skip all the dialog. There is also another door in the room that opens with the use of [...] When you enter the last room (it looks like a [...] filled with balls of yarn, and other possessions from the cat cave), you will see a man standing at the back. This last man will fight you with his strong Grunbull, as he states that his other pokemon are unfortunately too weak from a previous fight to battle. Defeat his Grunbull, and he will state that had your break in been your only offense, he would give you a chance to leave, but since you also [...] he is going to have to teach you a lesson. He will then go on to state that he once had a [...]using [...] and instructions from a friend from a distant region, he [...] Initiate your battle with [...] when the fight is over, instead of defeating it, it resorts to alternative measures. When you have brought [...] health down low enough, the man will suddenly figure out how you [...] finish the event off by teleporting you out of the building. So, ...no reward for that one, ...well... other than the great experience you would get from going through all the levels, and maybe the occasional item you might find. If you choose to re-enter the building, you may do so [...], but you will not be able to get back into the final room, as the door will be locked, and you will have[...] Anyway............ The End ...Or is it? Please comment, suggest, constructively criticize, etc. I would love (and kind of live on) your feedback.

So just like in Red and Blue? Well this isn't much of a quest, more of just a required action to be taken in order to get through a path.
I don't really care for this idea though. perhaps if it had a little more development.

Will heart gold and soul sliver be in Pokemon Universe
In what way? What pokemon are in it? Gold and Silver were second gen, of course they will be in it. If you mean the region of Johto, then no, its an entire new region in Pokemon-Universe.

my wife and i often both try games together and have no interactions between our accounts even so far as not buying each others wares on a general in game marketplace.
So, wouldn't the simplest solution to be to put a block on interactions between characters off the same ip, but allow multiple accounts to access from the same ip at the same time?
At first i thought this was a great idea, then i realized, people are just going to trade something to their friend, and then have it traded back to their other character, or find some other method to "cheat" the system. I think it will be impossible to avoid these problems without limiting characters to one per account, but I don't like that choice either.

This well take a lot of coding to put right in the game..so why not have the players make them out side the game...then send them to a admin to review to see if its appropriate for the game then have them place it in and put it on your character. This way we can get in to the game play while the admins decide or put your avatar in to the game for you..
First, if players are required to make sprites outside of the game, there are going to be alot of poor characters (not to mention the likely hood of inappropriate content). Second, if they were going to use an editor outside of the game (such as the one you linked to), why not just have that editor in the game instead. Third, there are currently something like 2000 members on the site, with more to be expected, and even more once the game is released; none of the admins are going to want to spend their time analyzing every little avatar people come up with. Fear not though, the planned way that characters will be made is going to be just fine.

I don't think you fully understand why it wouldn't be possible (at least not like it is). I understand what your saying, and the way you have explained things in your reply sound very reminiscent of many rpg's.
The problem is really more with simplicity. In PU (an MMO) it is easier for all events and characters to appear and be visible by all people; when you have random sprites that act differently for multiple people simultaneously in the same area, things become rather complicated. Basically, even though it is possible to make an action only visible to one person, it does make coding more difficult, and take a longer period of time, not to mention it might look strange if you have a bunch of people in a cave together doing such a quest separately.
Do you understand? (I hope none of that sounded rude, I'm just trying to explain as best I can; you see, I love hearing people's suggestions (even though it can get tiresome if they don't sound very good), and the only way for peoples ideas to get good are by learning from feedback. I'm sure you understand that principle. Keep trying.

I suggest that the happiness meter be broadened a bit. I always found it too easy to get pokemon to like me, it should either be a lot harder to level your happiness, or (my preferred option) increase the levels of happiness.
In other words, instead of just having pokemon have something like: Really hate, hate, neutral, like, love add in a few more degrees into the mix (this is an MMO after all, and will be a huge game). This would also mean happiness evolution pokemon will not evolve so easily

Before they started getting ridiculous numbers, I could name every pokemon in an instant just by looking at its picture.
And unlike you guys, I try to learn about the pokemon itself; I like to know about its back story if there is one.
