Ideas & Suggestions / Re: Pokemon Universe Town?
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:47:55 AM »
Perhaps one town could have a dept store and all others have normal pokemarts like in the games.

while i am not in charge of how that is going to work, i'm betting that with the size of the game, the amount of islands (and starter towns) there is likely to be several towns with departments stores, but i would not expect every town to have them

I figure that; rural towns will have Pokemarts, larger (or smaller) cities will have Dept. Stores, and the one "Capital City" of the island can have the Auction House, for a large scale player trade enviroment.

Of course, I'm getting a head of myself, but that's how I see a layout of one major capital city working in terms of content. It would also probably hold the Guild Headquarters and what have ye.

General Chat / Re: What's your favorite type of pokémon?
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:42:36 AM »
I usually use whatever gives me a nice balance on my team. I almost always have a Fire/Grass/Water type, however, for the solid defense it provides. Electric is also a type I like to use a lot. (Though, it's usually just a favorite. Mareep is <3) Other than that, as I stated before, whatever gives me a nice balance and solid feel.

Pokemon Essentials is the best program to use to make Pokemon based maps. You can google for it. You need to have RPG Maker XP installed already to use it as well.

Good luck with your shop, mate. Maybe you can keep it going through the busy days, unlike myself.

Feebas lv. 1-10, Milotic Female, Deoxys preferebly lv.1-10 but any level is fine, Frosslass lv.1-10 or just a Frosslass. And PM me what you want and your Friend Code and maybe we can trade. (I know my messege box is gonna be flooded...!)

I can pull off a Feebas and a Snorunt, level 1, with any breeding moves you would want. I think I already have one of your friend codes. (I think...) Give me a time you'd like them by and I can breed them on one of my days off.

Other Chat / Re: EV's and IV's
« on: June 26, 2010, 03:04:46 AM »
To sum it up nicely; IV's are what make every Pokemon unique. They are what contributes to the varying differences in attack between two Pokemon. You can have an IV of 0-31. For wild Pokemon you caught, these are random at the start of the fight. For Pokemon you breed, you have control over them through indirect methods.

EV's aren't going to be in PU. But, a simple explanation is, you receive 1 or more EV's every time you defeat an enemy Pokemon. You can have up to 510 EV's on any given Pokemon. You can split these around all you want, but you can only have 252 in one stat. Every 4 EV's, at level 100, equals 1 stat point, but you cannot get anymore EV's once you are level 100. (Well, you could, but they only apply when you level up.)

EX: Your level 98 Lucario just beat up a Hoothoot. He would get 1 HP EV. (iirc) After he beats 4 Hoothoots, he would have 4 EV's in his HP stat and would get an extra Hit Point.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Game Features / Re: Gym Leaders and their pokemon levels
« on: June 24, 2010, 10:17:40 PM »
i think the gym leaders should be at their normal low lvls until you beat elite four.
then all gyms and elite four get rematch bonus lvls.
then later, give them all lvl 100s
then after that, give them good EVs, good team (with wall, sweeper, .... of leader's type), items, and maybe even IVs

Ha, I plan on having the Gym Leaders tough in the first place. You will not beat the first Gym Leader the first time you come across him if you don't know what you are doing. Also; there will be no EV's in PU. We have something better planned.

I'm  for swapping trainer cards and it would be relatively easy to implement.

I would say, to completely abolish abuse, it should award no experience. It could either be done in special rooms in the Pokemon Centers, or some kind of hall at the center of most larger towns. Experience wouldn't be necessary anyway. It would simply be a fun way to test your skills.

EDIT: Well, I thought of a few issues. Space and data would be one thing. Trying to do a ghost for each player would no doubt be impossible. So, instead, we could do a little "Hall of Fame" type deal. Tournament winners, people who have caught the attention of a mod or GM, or players that have excelled in a certain aspect. We could make ghosts of their teams at level 100 (or their respective bracket) and have other trainers test their mettle against them.

Quite a bit different from the original suggestion, but a lot easier to implement, imo.

9/10

You get high for using my favorite Pokemon, Skorupi, Zubat, and Duskull.

And Amphy, you can click on the Pac-Man ghosts to get to the donation page, so why not Pac-Man ghosts?

If someone wants a User Bar, I can manage that, but I've been a bit busy lately. Too busy to work on the trainer cards. If I had photoshop, I'd offer to do a few of the other ones amphy was working on.

Baka has informed me that their will be a mini-map on the GUI.

Everything else will be tested, or probably be an optional feature.

I'm mostly focusing on things that are quick and easy, don't require much effort, or just take a little push in the right direction when it comes to the forums. I would love to continue working in my spriting shop, or over in the sig shop, but the PU work and RL have made it so I just don't have much incentive for it. Instead, you'll probably see me extremely active in the new Big Thread of Wifi for trading, since breeding is relaxing for me.
