This looks interesting. What's the difference between counterattacking and dodging+attacking? Also, I think waiting should decrease its evasiveness and increase the attacker's critical hit ratio.

Love the idea of having a "Bank" of potential pokemon for the gym leaders. That way, every player wont have to settle for the same strategy in beating the same 6 pokemon everyone else has already beaten. I do think that there should be a small chance of a surprise abberation every now and then. Ex. Water gym leader has a small chance, every other battle, in calling out a pokemon with fire moves (since water's apparent weaknesses are psychic & and grass).
Doing something like this would rid of players single-mindedly entering a gym with stacked single attribute teams and advocate a little creativity when entering a gym.
Or they could have a Sharpedo against all of the psychic pokemon, a Whiscash against all the electric type pokemon and a Ludicolo against grass. This would keep the water gym true to its name and give them neutral resistance against all its major weaknesses.

Maybe we could use these talent trees to control hidden power. If not, I'm not sure how else it would be possible to make hidden power easier to manipulate.

Is there something to replace them? If there isn't, people might as well leave a pokemon in the daycare center and ride a bike for hours. Assuming there is a daycare center and a bike.

Would you rather have EVs decide the type and power. At least then you could control what it would be.

How would you go about battle scarring a ghost pokemon like haunter?

All pokemon have IVs. Some pokemon have better IVs than others though.

They also affect the type and base power of a that pokemon's hidden power move.

I believe the base power of the hidden power depends on the IVs too. So, Its not always 70.
What would you suggest for determining the type?

I believe the first move tutor ever was in Silver and Gold when there was this guy who taught headbutt to pokemon.
The old silver and gold of course.

I remember that I always had two or three boxes in each game devoted to all the pokemon I battle other players with. I would really enjoy being able to organize my pokemon into teams and simply switch teams out as I please without needing to put the whole other team back into the box one-by-one.

Well, I think the main reason the contests in the games aren't like the ones in the anime is that, from a programmer's perspective, the creators of the game must predict every single combination of moves that a player would ever use. After inputting every single combination of moves, they would also need to prepare animations for them all. And I think we all agree that it wouldn't be any fun if we couldn't see what we just achieved.

I believe Pokemon generation five has 3v3 battles. Not sure if this helps tough since It hasn't come out yet.

I agree except with a different pokemon. In pokemon crystal version, Furret's pokedex entry says that it burrows underground to make nests, and there is also an episode where a furret uses dig. Yet, furret never learns dig in it's natural move pool.
How can it make burrows if it doesn't learn dig naturally?

I think the follow-up moves could work like this:
Infernape use flame wheel on Onix. Onix flinches (or something like that because flame wheel doesn't flinch pokemon) Infernape follows up with a fire punch that does more damage because it followed a flame wheel.
As far as the battle scars go, I don't think that would work considering that only certain pokemon would look cooler with them, and everybody probably has their own opinions as to which ones.
