As in the cartoon version of Pokemon. Each time "Ash" chances upon a pokemon he's unsure of or have not seen before, the pokedex comes in handy where it tells user the basic information onf the particular Pokemon. Same concept can be used in the PU, but when you catch the pokemon you'll get the full details. That way the pokedex is usesful for first timers playing the game and also challenging as to fill up your pokedex u need to actually capture it.
To add on it maybe, after a user catches all pokemon and it's pokedex is completes. User will ear a Pokedex badges. the badge should look like a mini pokedex. Cool yet challenging right?

Glad to have someone who thinks in the same boat as me. Achievements of badges should be for recognition and not for buffs. This make the game a fair platform for all. If badges are meant for buff, every player would be targetting on the best badges and ignore the rest.

I'll have to agree with Tittles should not come with any buff as newbies in the game will refrain or avoid particular players whom has a "godly" Tittle. This kill the interaction and friendlysness to interact in the game. Let's not make PU just for the sake of gaming. It should promote communication and make friends make it be form different countries from different background.
As for badges, i'd say, it's best to stick to the Gym Badge idea form the original format of the game BUT more badges could be add/earned from tournaments organised dufing event. Example: An annual PU New Year Countdown Tournament/Event/Special Mission, winner earns a PU Countdown Badged which could be easily recognise that the particular player has won such an Event. That way the badge is deemed to be unique asl it can only be earned by only 1 trainer at the end of every year.

Read that the pre-beta release is in a couple of days. BUT if it's postponed or pushed to much later this year. I'd still wait. Would love to be part of PU to give my bit to make the game better when it's up public for all to enjoy. With all the opinions and ideas testers could give, i bet the game will be a blast. All you is is time for the PU Team to make the game enjoyable and as exciting to match up to other MMORPG games available in the market. Kudos PU on the upcoming release!

Chance upon this forum while browsing the web. BUT i find it cool that thread rules imposes good language rather than just blurting out words in eagerness. Stamping in such standards early should and would make a clean/mature and disciplined gaming environment.
Thumbs up to PU and it's team! Looking forwards to it's release..
