Gotta go with Chimchar here...Feraligatr and Charizard are beasts...but Chimchar has  an amazing combination of speed and power.

Pokemon Lineup:
     Houndoom (To counter Bug pokemon)
     Honchkrow (To counter Fighting pokemon)
     Hydreigion
     Bisharp
     Spiritomb
     Drapion
I would use a hidden floor Mechanic like the ghost type gym in gold and silver.  The trainers there would use:
     1) Sharpedo
         Skuntank
         Mandibuzz

     2) Tyranitar
         Krookodile
         Bisharp

     3) Scrafty
         Absol
         Mightyena

If the move sets are done right I think that might be a good challenge.
