That was the less hardcore one, in the other, Ash dies.

Yeah, the version I found was an abridged version. Either way though (whether he dies, or whether he wakes up and finds out everything he experienced in his life), it's pretty sad.

at least his clothes have changed since the beginning

Going to agree with that. If they didn't change I would be a bit worried. I don't see a problem with it. I mean thats Anime truly.

Ok i can understand the first region maybe. he's 10 ok

but now when he stands next to gym leaders they are 12 feat tall compared to Ash.

it's kinda unrealistic if Ash who's been training a few years to beat someone that's been training there whole life.

and team rocket is grown ups but they cant catch a 10 year old boy?
1) Maybe he's short? It makes his big accomplishments seem bigger when he isn't some macho bodybuilder.
2) He's supposed to be a 'hero' of sorts. In the final fantasy games, the bad guy was omnipotent before the hero is even born, but he's the hero. So he wins.
3) Again, he's supposed to be a hero. In being a hero, he has to grow up and get good at doing stuff much faster than everyone around him. Also, Team Rocket is supposed to be a bunch of incompetent nubmuffins.

I think that Ash doesn't change much because it has to appeal to younger audiences, which is a bit disappointing :(

Also i think they didn't change him that much because he was a character of much importance and they needed to keep his looks the same or really similar.

I don't find it too annoying, I find the movies more annoying especially how in the old pokemon series, when there were pokemon you would have never heard of that appear in the movie back-flashes of the past.  I try not to think of it too much, or i start getting a little agitated by the thought they put into the movie. :)
