HoN is better imo,
LoL is meant to be played very aggressively because there isnt a deny feature*
but the champions are meant to be played more passively. see the problem here?

If you're willing to pay for LoL, ( not saying it's a P2P game, but you can buy heroes ) might as well spend a little bit more and pay for HoN.
* Denying is when you kill your own minion/tower when it has low HP causing the other team not to get the gold for the kill and get less EXP
