Pokemon Universe Town?

If you guys haven't thought of it yet, what about a pokemon universe town where its the main town and everybody hangs out there. For example, WoW had Ironforge.

Hm, I wouldn't call it a main town. The founding plots of WoW and PU are different, but I do like the idea of a central town to gravitate towards, or a place the player'll know they'll find a bigger selection of shops/other players/admins. Perhaps an island capital city would be a better way to put it.

Don't assume everyone's going to want to hang out in a central town or anything of that sort. Especially in a game where each town might have something unique to it.

There are different islands in the PU World; big ones, smaller ones..
The PU Team can choose to make small towns (however, even in the small towns there need to be space for a lot of players  ), and big city's.

I don't like the idea of focussing on one city, and make it the main city where you can find a lot of stuff. It should be more spread throughout the world.

If there was a main town to which everyone could flock to and find everything in one spot; Im sure the PU team would have a hard time not calling it Lag City.

Yes, we already have a bunch of names but some new ones can't do any harm.

while i am not in charge of how that is going to work, i'm betting that with the size of the game, the amount of islands (and starter towns) there is likely to be several towns with departments stores, but i would not expect every town to have them

Not sure how you've got a bunch of names. Ive been thinking of names for most of the day and thought of a few (some corny.. some just ridculous).

 Its alot harder than I thought.

Knowing if there was a set origin of the  names of the towns would help.

Like in the anime, some towns are named after colors, texture, and plants.

Since most of the towns, in PU, would be coast-side, Is there an aquatic theme to the names?

ok I kinda have another question. even though there is 17 gym's and badges i dont think there should only be 17 towns/cities and I'm pretty sure you guys are not doing taht and already have idea's for more than 17 town/cities, i just kinda wanted to make sure

This is, for one thing, straying horribly off topic. Aside from that, why does it seem that several of those town names have something to do with death and destruction? DESTROYa, Fallout (A fallout shelter is something you use to hide from nukes), and Cannabel (Cannibal?). Do I sense some type of intent against poke-kind?

I figure that; rural towns will have Pokemarts, larger (or smaller) cities will have Dept. Stores, and the one "Capital City" of the island can have the Auction House, for a large scale player trade enviroment.

Of course, I'm getting a head of myself, but that's how I see a layout of one major capital city working in terms of content. It would also probably hold the Guild Headquarters and what have ye.

The reason "main towns" exist:

• One to one trade (afk or not)
• Auction house
• Showing off gear/pokemon
• Gathering a party of players
• Shopping
• Being near the most transport (so when you log on, or when you get a party invite, you can go to where you need to be as fast as possible)
• Being near the best places to get xp

It is very annoying if you have to travel constantly to do routine tasks. Anything that is not fun, especially if it annoys the players, should be avoided in the game. This includes forcing constant monotonous travel. People have limited time, and they don't want to spend an hour trying to gather people together to get to the fun part (the actual quest or xp party) let alone the time it takes to find people in the first place. Therefore there should be several major towns/cities (ie it doesn't have to be just one) with most if not all of the above mentioned items. That's not to say easy transport (or even access to such cities!) should be easy to earn, that's what quests are for. But by the time you get to "end-game", you are going to be pretty tired of walking everywhere.

Would there be something like a Pub to gather and make parties? Sort of a specialized place, so you don't have people going around asking "Want to join my party?" All the time.
