[Pokedex Entry] Pidgey
« on: April 01, 2014, 06:37:11 PM »
Pokemon #13, Pidgey, Normal/Flying type, Tiny Bird pokemon.

Intro: Pidgey is a extremely common pokemon that is well-know for its ubiquituity. Pidgey is a small bird with a simple brown and beige plumage. Its undersides all the way up to his eyes, the outer half of his wings and several feathers above his eyes resembling eyebrows are all beige. A small amount of black feathers are visible behind his eyes, and the rest of the feathers including his tail-feathers are brown. On his chest, several feathers hang downwards, indicating the end of the upper body. Pidgey has a pinkish and feet with two forward toes and one backward toe. All toes have a talon.

Habitat: Populations of Pidgey are plentiful and omnipresent. They live in open fields, forests, cities and towns, as well as certain mountainous regions and many others.

Diet: Pidgey eats small insects and berries, but may also eat fruits, seeds, bread and other things it scavenges in the city.

Biology: Pidgey is a very hardy pokemon with a robust immune system and a flexible diet. Thanks to these qualities, pidgey are very widespread and can be found nearly anywhere. Local Pidgey populations may adapt to local conditions and vary from the average pidgey. One example of this is Pudgey Pidgey Island, where food is so plentiful that the Pidgey have devolved into a fat, round critter that is unable to fly.
Pidgey is a timid pokemon that prefers to avoid any kind of confrontation. It easily flees from pokemon and trainers alike. There are exceptions to this behavior. Especially when Pidgey's nest is being threatened, it will attack the predator by flapping up large gusts of wind and blowing sand in their eyes.
In the Kanto region, Pidgey and its evolutions are very well represented amongst teams of trainers. This is because Pidgey can be caught at a very low level, while barely any other pokemon is available at this level.
Pidgey have been used for other things than just pokemon battles. Since Pidgey has an impeccable sence of direction, it is very suitable for jobs such as mail delivery.
In combat, Pidgey will mostly use attacks that are typical to flying-type pokemon such as Wing Attack, Gust, Featherdance and more powerful moves such as Sky Attack and Brave Bird.

Pokemon League Commission notes:
Class D: Pidgey are widespread and populations are typically very large. The PLC deems it exceptionally unnecessary to implement catching restrictions towards Pidgey, and encourages all starting trainers and regular trainers alike to catch them.
