Evolution stones.
« on: April 12, 2010, 05:43:52 AM »
I've always hated never having enough stones to evolve everything.
Will we be able to buy stones? Or will they be some sort of reward?

Oh, and a forum discussion question:

Do you bother with a pokemon even if you can't fully evolve it because of a lack of a stone/lack of people to trade with?
The thrill in playing a game does not come from our chances of winning. It is the weight and pressure of losing that fuels our fascination. It is why people challenge, why they gamble and why they compete. The adrenaline that comes from defying defeat is what motivates us.

I don't really go out of my way to try and "collect 'em all" in the Pokemon games. Is that just me?

I like to see all the different Pokemon I can, and geek out when I come across a rare one (or just one I haven't seen before... I think I'm pretty familiar with most of the first 4 generations now though), but to answer your question if I like a Pokemon (especially if I particularly like its highest evolution) I will train it up, and if necessary use an evolution stone on it. But even if I don't have access to the required evolution stone I will still usually train them up and have some fun.

Trying to think of an example Pokemon...

Can't atm lol.

As long as I can get a fire stone for my Typhlosion/Ninetales Flash Fire combo (if flash fire's in the game), I'm all set lol.

Yes, stones should be a feature that is buyable.  I would hate having to look for stones.  That would be wasted effort.  Also, there should be a easier way to get pokemon that evolve through trades.  I don't want someone stealing my pokemon that evolves in a trade.

yes.... Let us have it as easy as possible... Some of us still cheats. I can't stand if I should go find or win my own stones...

If you don't have any friends in PU that you can trust with your pokemon, then maybe you are doing something wrong ;)
Remember, unless we say it will be included, a Team Member's speculation and ideas are still just speculation and ideas. Though it may be more likely to be included, there are no guarantees!

Having friends in PU is not what im worried about.  I've played PN before it got C&D ordered.  The issue with trades is people backstabbing other people and keeping there pokes.  There was some issues of this in PN.  I did not experience any of these.  It is just what I had heard.

The point was that you only need one person you can trust when trading for evolution. If a trainer doesn't have any friends then it's probably his own fault that he can't safely evolve his pokemon, and not an issue with game design.

Haha. I'm the same.

Yeah, I liked how I could by them in the first gen! Much better. Now I can't obtain both an arcanine and a ninetails because I only had one firestone):

This is a very qood question and I think it would be very beneficial that we are allowed to buy Evolution stones. But, however, it has to be set at a high price ..bcuz it would be like pokeballs everyone has em ..

i liked how they could be mined in d/p/pl. not sure if something like that would be possible on here though. would be good if it could but im sure there will be some technical difficulties which would limit something on this scale
