Trade Pokemon?
« on: May 26, 2010, 05:06:14 PM »
OK I did look up (Trade) and (Trade Pokemon) an nothing came up even know this seems big.
Will there be trade?
And if not how will some pokemon evolve?
But if so how can you prevent some pro from trading a level 100 to a noob?
I know in Ruby if you were not far enoph in the game you could not contol them, so will this be the same?
All who pass may never pass again. Or maybe they will!
I will one day become an official game designer, No Joke!

Haha, obviously there will be trade :P, why else would you be playing with other people?
Also, trade will not be restricted to pokemon, items will be tradeable as well.
There was some kind of discussion about what stops massive trade differences and I think the out come was that it would be related to your player level. Unfortunatly I can't find the thread anywhere...

Yes, it was said in my thread a long time back...

http://pokemon-universe.com/index.php/topic,605.msg7580.html#msg7580

We prevent pokemon from being traded to 'noobs' by making high level pokemon not obey the trainer if the latter doesn't have the necessary requirements (ie badges)
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

well if a trustworthy friend is what your looking for then you found... me hehe

so yeah i guess trading is a big part of the game and the restriction to avoid pros trading with the noobs isn't a bad idea at all :D

Ok, so it seems its the same as the core games.

Do the higher level pokemon just flat out not listen thoguh? Or is there a percentage to wheter it feels like listening or not, going up and down depending on how many badges you need, compared to badges you have?
The thrill in playing a game does not come from our chances of winning. It is the weight and pressure of losing that fuels our fascination. It is why people challenge, why they gamble and why they compete. The adrenaline that comes from defying defeat is what motivates us.

More then likely there will also be a lvl the trainer has to be in order to even trade...to stop people from creating toons over and over to get and sell starters to other players.

Better be disobey 100% to totally discourage unfair trading...

Legendaries are OP, also in most storylines there are only one of each and so it makes no sense for every Tom, Dick and Harry to have one.

I have my own ideas on how trading will occur. Still, we're mostly working on getting the game running flawlessly. (Or maybe I just haven't been around for the cnoversations.) But, a few ways we could stop players from abusing it would be: make them have to reach a certain trainer level to trade. They must have a certain number of badges. They must have at least one Pokemon at level 20. They must complete a quest which will give them the option to trade. Or, they must have a certain item earned through some means.

Pick and choose, or combine, the ones that work best and that's how I see us deciding it.
