(Quest Idea) Steve, the Butler!
« on: May 13, 2011, 09:43:43 PM »
The story starts off with your character walking into a huge dusty looking mansion, in the outskirts of town. You seem interested in the mansion and try to get in from the front door.

You then try to:

1. Give it a small push, the door suddenly bulges open.
2. Knock on the door, the door swings open.

You notice three human-like figures ahead. The mansion seems clean as possible from the inside. But that's not the point. You are suddenly running towards the figures, they seem surprised. The young child in the middle seems teary eyed. Then the person to the left speaks:

"It's been a long time, since somebody has come here!"

"Indeed! Are you a trainer?"

Options:

1.Yes (You Nod)
2. Sort of..(You Nod)

"This is an old mansion-this place use to have many trainers.. you see this is a Pokémon hot spot! But our butler Stevenson has been lost, and this mansion quickly become scarce of Trainers. Stevenson was such a good butler and he took care of the wild Pokémon.

"He had to do an errand out back...but he has not come back! We could not find any trainer to do the hard task. We also can't leave the mansion, we have no Pokémon to protect ourselves. We will give you a reward, if you can do this task for us.

You nod once more heading out of the back of the mansion. After various steps outside you see a person and they shout

"Are you here to save me!?"

Options:

1. Yes
2. ....Nope. -If this option is picked he asks the same question.

"Oh sorry haha..I seem to have taken a real hard fall, leaving me unconscious. And I also was supposed to feed the forest Pokémon, may you help me finish this task before we go back to the mansion? I don't want to go back doing nothing!"

You have three options:1. I can help..
                                  2. Not right now.
                                  3. No.

If you pick yes you go ahead onwards, as you go on you see wild grass. Steven stops you from going any further and speaks "All right let me handle this from here. Thank you for your help. But I have a bad feeling about going any further. You can leave now if you want."

You face him and click what ever key is used to talk to an NPC "Okay..let's go forward."

Steve has a Chansey alongside of him, he heals your Pokémon as you two go through your way of the forest Pokémon. (Note: If you run away from the battles each time the quest still goes on as planned.) After about three minutes of walking through the grass you find various trees. Steve gives you X10 honey, and you slather the trees with honey, from then onwards. You find yourself in front of a couple of shady looking characters. One man seems to have talked to himself for a while. You go along and click whatever button on him.

"Ehehehe who's this little punk? I thought we were going to have the forest pokemon all to out selves. Nevertheless I challenge you to battle!"

You battle him automatically. His Pokémon are Unkrown , Castform , Meowth, and Whimiscott.

After beating him he mumbles to himself and the other shady characters follow him out of the forest. Steven speaks "You are a great battler, I had no idea trainers could be so devious, and keep the forest to themselves. I will add more security, thank you for your help, you will get a reward for your efforts."

You go back to the mansion, the man thanks you and welcomes you back anytime, you will get free admission as a reward. And also X6 poke balls.

After this you are allowed to back and catch some of the forest Pokémon. It consist of:

1. Sytcher
2. Castform
2. Meowth
4. Gulpin
5. Volbeat
6. Illuminse

Steven now heals your Pokemon.
The man and the woman both sell Pokemon goods from now on.

There better be more to these "chain of quests" because otherwise your getting free rewards in this one for literally walking outside and coming back in.

Don't worry, the poke balls can be used on the second quest.
I don't know it's verging on the sacred word that is (meh).

Please elaborate.

...Why would they give a masterball? This task is meant to be followed up by another, its a chain of quest. A masterball would be over the top.

Unless you elaborate on this, it's a little pathetic. It involves you walking into a building, leaving it, and re-entering.

Yeah that's why its a chain of quest. It gets harder in the next quest to come. I guess I know where you are coming from..it is too easy.

Maybe you should make the search for the man longer as in first you find a shoe then another and you follow a trail of footprints and find out a group of bad guys stole him and wanted details about the secret safe in the mansion or whatever just an idea.

I guess I rather just make one quest then a series of side quest. Alright Wire I will modify the story, to an extent that it would actually add some difficulty.

Yes, do that and I'll give my feedback, because up to now... that's like an empty shell.
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

The story starts off with your character walking into a huge dusty looking mansion, in the outskirts of town. You seem interested in the mansion and try to get in from the front door.

You then try to give it a small push, the door suddenly bulges.

You notice three human-like figures ahead. The mansion seems clean as possible from the inside. But that's not the point. You are suddenly running towards the figures, they seem surprised.

You mean, you automatically run towards them? ??? I don't know exactly how that will be in-game...

Quote
The young child in the middle seems teary eyed.

Okay, now how would you notice that/get to know that? Remember that the sprites are 48*48 and that might be difficult to do. We'll have to see that with the pixel artists.

Quote
Then the person to the left speaks:

"It's been a long time, since somebody has come here!"

"Indeed! Are you a trainer?"

You nod.

Seems like you don't have a choice here and I don't quite like that...

Quote
"This is an old mansion-this place use to have many trainers.. you see this is a Pokémon hot spot! But our butler Stevenson has been lost, and this mansion quickly become scarce of Pokémon.

Okay, there is some form of paradox coming at this point. First, that mansion used to have wild pokemon around if I understood well, but the three human-like figures are afraid of them...???

Quote
You nod once more heading out of the back of the mansion.

Again, no choice... :-\

Quote
After various steps outside you see a person and they shout

"Are you here to save me? Oh sorry haha..I seem to have taken quite a fall, leaving me unconscious. I was supposed to feed the forest Pokémon, may you help me finish this task before we go back to the mansion?"

He fell unconscious but still knew that you were coming? Weird if you ask me :P

You have two options: No...
                                 Yes

If you pick yes you go ahead onwards, as you go on you see wild grass. Steven stops you from going any further and speaks "All right let me handle this from here. Thank you for your help. But I have a bad feeling about going any further. You can leave now if you want."

You face him and click the space bar "Okay..let's go forward."

I'll just point out here that the space bar is not the key that you'll be using to talk ^-^

Quote
Steve has a chansey alongside of him, he heals your Pokémon as you two go through your way of the forest Pokémon.

Okay, if I understand well, wild pokemon attack you here and Steve's chansey keeps you healed. Now, what if you run form the battles each time? And going a little astray, would you, if you could, make it possible for trainers to catch pokemon here?

Quote
After about three minutes of walking through the grass you find various trees. Steve gives you X10 honey, and you slather the trees with honey, from then onwards. You find yourself in front of a couple of shady looking characters. One man seems to be talking to himself. You go along and click space bar on him,

You go back to the mansion, the man thanks you and welcomes you back anytime, you will get free admission as a reward. And also X6 poke balls.

Okayish overall, with some spelling/punctuation issues. Even 6 pokeballs seem a little too much... but maybe that links to something you're planning on, I wouldn't know right now. The pokemon you face appear somehow weak with Meowth and Unown, if you're including Whismicott too.
