There should be some areas which require a level limit. For example your pokemon must all be level 60+ to enter. And there could be rare pokemon. That would mean you must work. And I'm sure there are people who keep an eye on training hard.

That could lead to people training only 1 pokemon hard to get into these areas. I think it would make more sense if your character level had to be a certain amount. This would still keep people working hard.

Well, if you only have one pokemon, you have more weaknesses.

And btw, such an area wouldn't be at the beginning, so people would already have more than one pokemon.

Oh wait. If everybody starts at a random place, it will not work.

Well, your Dugtrio will have some harsh time with Milotic and Altaria, CB...

For HG/SS, I got one of my old GSC teams; Meganium, Noctowl, Haunter, Magmar, Ampharos, Lapras

They are made only for in-game.

As for PU, I really don't know which pokemon will be available first, or which pokemon will be rare, etc. While I would like to have a better than average team, I don't want to lose much time. After my better than average team, then I'll focus on building my main team.

As one who has mastered the use of many Pokemon, it is nigh impossible to choose a single Pokemon. But, as I said, it is only nigh impossible. I personally have to work with my original partner.

The Pikachu I mentioned is the combination of all my best Pikachu from all the hand held games.

Reason: Because Pikachu was the first partner I ever had and has always come though for me. Even when the odds was stacked against us, he always came out on top.

Well, I will just point out that Pikachu is more of a physical pokemon.

I would drop thunder for thunder punch/dig/brick break and surf for wish/fake out/attract
