I have a second favorite...

Kingler, I seem to allways end up using one in any pokemon game i play (i even traded two into both the colleseum games).  He usually doesn't get that good until he learns crabhammer but he's still an above par pokemon imo.  Plus his sprite walks sideways in HG/SS

The best thing to do with Kingler is get Defense EVs and attack EVs, with the rest going to HP or Sp. Def. Then teach it this moveset:
Crabhammer
Dig
Brick Break
Swagger
Have the ability Shell Armor so it can't be hit by Criticals.
Now, virtually nothing can beat your kingler, except a Sp. Attack sweeper and a Grass type.

Fortunetly Kingler's pretty quick so it'll probably get swagger off before a grass type or most special sweepers can attack it.  Pop up swagger and cross fingers

Real reason: I've always been a fan of Psychic types and Espion is one of the most well balanced of them. Plus, it's variety of move types helps a great deal in battles!

Actually, "it's sooooo adorable" is probably a large factor for many people to decide what their favorite pokemon, either that or the fact that the pokemon is just plain awesome (Slowking), because if people just chose their favorite on how well balanced they were, then we'd get plenty of stupid looking favorites.

And one slight detail, it's 'Espeon' not 'Espion'. In french, that word means a spy.
