Wild encounter: go <pokemon>!
« on: October 17, 2010, 02:37:26 AM »
Something I always wanted in the games, when you meet a wild poke, why not have the option to choose which of your pokes go fight it?  Instead of always the first on your team?
Makes sense to me, guess its like that in the animes too, he meets a poke then choose which is best suited to deal with it... Also it would be really useful to train in game, instead of fleeing from the bad EV pokes, you send the poke you want that EV for... then again, I know, you're going to change the EV system... but yeah, still seems logical to me to get to choose the poke you send first :)

I actually had this idea but didn't say anything yet >.> because I was thinking how the UI would be setup, etc etc.

I don't think it would be that difficult.

Ex.
You walk into tall grass... Bam, you are warped into the battle interface.

"Wild <pokemon> appears!"
Your char stay on the screen and you can click on any pokemon you want to send.

Then,

<Player> sends out <pokemon>.

Seems ok...
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

Currently playing Pokemon XY/ORAS/Shuffle and Clash of Clans and testing out PokemonRevolutionOnline and Dragonmon Hunter....

You can do this. Switch who the lead Pokemon on your team is.

That may not be the answer people want, but implementing something like this would be for pure laziness on some peoples parts. Not to mention the ramifications in a PvP setting. Just switch and if you're at a disadvantage, switch some more.

We could still keep the system with PVP and battles with NPCs. The pokemon of both players are not sent out until the pokemons are chosen.

But I agree it'll be for lazy people :P

As title says, I only meant for wild encounters, and that has nothing to do with laziness, it just makes sense?  Why would you always send the same poke for every wild encounter? That's just dumb...

Its a Great Idea , but not a good idea for an MMO as there will complaints from players as to who has to choose their pokemon first, blah blah, it should just be kept to the first pokemon in the party to go out first :)

I agree with this idea, and to preventthe problem with PvP, you could make it where you both chooe which pokemon you want, and they both arrive at the same time possiby? that way neither has an advantage.
