Saving like in the traditional RPG Pokemon Games?
« on: January 16, 2010, 03:17:35 PM »
One of the questions I have for the moment is: Will saving be the same as in the Pokemon Games?

Case example:
I enter a gym, save before battling (I know that may sound stupid). If I forget to save after battling, will that take me to the point I saved, or will there be a sort of 'auto-save' in the game?

Most of the time we use the soft reset facility is before encountering a legendary in the Pokemon Games. If you decide to make them 'catchable', will saving help to catch them, in case they faint during the battle?

Thanks!
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

im not part of the PU team (yet... dum dum duuuummmmm), but i am willing to bet that the game will have an auto save function. in the original games, you can save wherever you want, and redo mistakes because of it, in an MMORPG this would cause a number of issues, especially along the lines of: player 1 gives player 2 a pikachu, player 1 does not save and starts over, now both players have a pikachu. of course this is just an example, and this problem appears elsewhere as well, so unless the team intends to make you save before doing ANYTHING that interacts with other people (and being an MMORPG that's alot) i can only see the auto save function being employed.

also, no! legendaries are not catchable! this has been discussed ALOT

Is it really finalised that we won't get any legendaries then?

That's why I was asking if there was an auto save function. Trading issues would be very annoying for people trying to abuse of it. Plus, if there is that 'punishment' when battling someone, the game needs to auto save, and when the player comes back, the auto saved file will be the one to be retrieved by the system. Without auto save, the 'punishment' has no use at all!

That is somewhat true.

As Spirit was so kind to phrase;

But that does not mean you can't encounter them.

Some legendaries will be used as world bosses and others as quest-helpers.
Notice that also NPCs will be used as world bosses to get a variation in the game and storyline.

What about... a legendary decides to join your team, or you get one as a reward for a quest?

That's however, going a little like in Mystery Dungeon...

It's not that I like to use legendaries in battles, but more like some sort of 'trophy' :D

Only for a shorter period of time while you are doing that quest maybe.

Of course not, this is an MMO.
